Abstract:
A container filling apparatus includes a fill nozzle for directing a liquid product into a container and an adaptor including a nozzle interface to engage the fill nozzle for a cleaning operation. An expandable member is configured to expand into a gap between the adaptor and the fill nozzle to form a seal between the nozzle interface and the fill nozzle.
Abstract:
A light-emissive device including: a light-emissive region (12); a first electrode (10) located on a viewing side of the light-emissive region for injecting charge carriers of a first type; and a second-electrode (11) located on a non-viewing side of the light-emissive region for injecting charge carriers of a second type; and wherein there is a reflectivity-influencing structure (13) located on the non-viewing side of the light-emissive region and having a light absorbent layer including graphite and/or a fluoride or oxide of a low work function metal.
Abstract:
A method for fracturing subterranean reservoirs by including a partially esterified, polyalkoxylated polyols as an oxidizing breaker retarder in the aqueous fracturing fluid to delay its gel breaking properties with the oxidizing breaker. The delayed gel breaking properties will lead to the controlled breaking of the fracturing fluid that reduces or eliminates damage to the formation and facilitates well clean up.
Abstract:
A viscoelastic surfactant mixture (VESM) has been developed that is useful as a viscosity modifying additive for stimulating subterranean hydrocarbon containing formations. The VESM contains an amphoteric surfactant, an arylalkyl sulfonate cosurfactant and a polar solvent. The VESM may be employed as part of systems used in fracturing, acidizing, gravel packing and similar operations where a viscous fluid is required. The VESM can be applied over a wide range of temperatures and is especially useful if performance at elevated temperatures is required.
Abstract:
A bird feeder support pole that is configured to selectively elevate and lower a crossbeam assembly supporting one or more bird feeders. The support pole eliminates the need to climb ladders or other objects to replenish the feeder with a bird feed. The crossbeam assembly is mounted with a trolley assembly that is movable along a length of the support pole via an elevating mechanism.
Abstract:
Inertial sensor having a body with first and second cavities on opposite sides thereof, a sensing element in the first cavity, electronic circuitry in the second cavity, electrical conductors interconnecting the sensing element and the circuitry, and leads connected electrically to the circuitry and extending from the body for mounting the sensor and making connections with the circuitry.
Abstract:
A method of making phenol and alkylphenol ethoxylates non-estrogenic by inserting 1 mole of propylene oxide onto the phenolic group before proceeding with the addition of ethylene oxide or mixtures of ethylene and propylene oxide. The final phenolic products can be further reacted to form sulfates, sulfonates, phosphate esters, condensed alkylphenol alkoxylates and other derivatives of alkylphenol or phenol. Non-estrogenic phenol and alkylphenol alkoxylates and their derivatives have been found to be excellent salt tolerant, high temperature stable surfactants for oil recovery from subterranean reservoirs. These products are also useful in forming emulsions of heavy crude for transportation through pipelines.

Abstract:
A system, method, and process of for packaging liquid product into cartons using an automated packaging system and more specifically methods of enclosing the packaging system and routing conditioned air over the cartons is presented. More specifically, a carton magazine assembly for collecting plastic coated paper carton blanks prior to sanitization, assembly, filling, and sealing includes a magazine cover that can be opened to insert additional carton blanks into the packaging system as necessary. The magazine cover has an integrated air manifold that directs pressurized conditioned air over the carton blanks towards suction ports. The suction ports collect the air with potential contaminants and the filters the air prior to ejecting it away from the vicinity of the packaging system.
Abstract:
A Si-based diode (10, 10′, 100) is formed by epitaxially depositing a Si-based diode structure on a silicon substrate. The Si-based diode structure includes a Si-based pn junction (16, 16′, 18, 18′, 30, 32, 160, 161) having a backward diode current-voltage characteristic in which the forward tunneling current is substantially smaller than the backward tunneling current at comparable voltage levels. In some embodiments, the Si-based pn junction includes at least one non-silicon or silicon alloy layer such as at least one SiGe layer (16, 16′, 160, 161). In some embodiments, at least one delta doping (30, 32) is disposed on the silicon substrate in or near the pn junction, that together with the Si-based pn junction define an electrical junction having the backward diode current-voltage characteristic. A large area detector array may include a plurality of such Si-based diodes (10, 10′, 100).
