Disclosed is a method of producing xylitol using a hydrolysate containing xylose and arabinose prepared from byproducts of tropical fruit biomass and more precisely, a method of producing xylitol which includes the steps of producing xylose and arabinose by the pretreatment of tropical fruit biomass byproducts including coconut shell, palm shell and oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) via acid (0.2-5%) hydrolysis and an electrodialysis and an ionic purification; and producing xylitol with high yield based on repeated batch fermentation using a hydrolysate containing xylose and arabinose as a carbon source. In addition, the present invention relates to an active carbon produced by carbonization and activation of a hydrolysate remainder of a tropical fruit shell, the byproduct of xylose and arabinose production, at a certain temperature and a preparation method of the same.

A system and method to detect angular rotation, linear displacement and/or surface deformations is presented. The method is based on the ability of a linear polarized light to interact with magnetic materials and to change its polarization angle due to Faraday effect. A basic structure of the system consists of a magneto-optic (MO) film with a two-domain structure and a single domain wall which are generated by gradient magnetic field produced by opposite polarity permanent magnets placed near the film. An AC magnetic field applied perpendicular to the MO film surface causes the magnetic domain wall in the MO film to oscillate at the same frequency. This leads to a detected output AC modulated signal. By measuring the temporal changes in this signal, information on angular rotation, linear displacement and/or surface deformation can be obtained.

In addition, the plug terminal assembly includes at least two plug terminals configured to be unfolded from the slots of the fixing member into an unfolded state and insertable into an outlet, and a maintaining mechanism configured to maintain the at least two terminals in the unfolded state.

The present invention relates to a fibrous starch with enhanced emulsifying capacity and emulsifying stability, and low-fat mayonnaise and margarine compositions using the same. More specifically, disclosed are fibrous starch which has an increased starch particle size and exhibits improved emulsifying capacity and emulsion stability, prepared by heat-treating starch at a temperature lower than a gelatinization temperature, phosphorylating the starch and further heat-treating the starch sample at a high temperature, and low-fat mayonnaise and margarine compositions in which the content of cooking oil is reduced by 50% or more by adding the fibrous starch with enhanced emulsifying capacity thereto.
