    摘要: A method for improving thermo-oxidative stability and elastomer compatibility in an apparatus lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil including a lubricating oil base stock. The lubricating oil base stock includes a di-alkylated aromatic base stock of the formula: (R1)—(R2)—(R1) wherein each R1 is the same or different and represents a C10-C30 alkyl group; R2 represents an aromatic moiety. The di-alkylated aromatic base stock includes at least 44 wt % dialkylate product. Thermo-oxidative stability and elastomer compatibility are improved as compared to thermo-oxidative stability and elastomer compatibility achieved using a lubricating oil base stock other than the di-alkylated aromatic base stock. A lubricating oil including the di-alkylated base stock of the above formula, and the di-alkylated aromatic base stock of the above formula.

    摘要: A process for removing cyclopentene from the C5 fraction of a light olefin feed useful in an isoparaffin/olefin alkylation process redistributes fragments of C5 olefins formed by ring opening metathesis (ROM) in the presence of a catalyst. The higher molecular weight olefins produced in the reaction can be blended into the gasoline blend pool without imposing a significant or any vapor pressure penalty. Cyclopentene present in the C5 portion of the feed undergoes various ring opening reactions while other pentenes are converted to hydrocarbon products of lower and higher molecular weight relative to pentene. The reduction in cyclopentene results in a reduced tendency for the formation of acid soluble oil (ASO) during alkylation.

    摘要: A process for making a substantially saturated dendritic hydrocarbon polymer. The process has the following steps: (a) polymerizing an amount of a first alkadiene monomer under anionic conditions in the presence of a first organic monolithium initiator to produce a linear polyalkadiene having a lithiated chain end; (b) reacting the linear polyalkadiene with an amount of a second organic monolithium initiator in the presence of tetramethylethylene diamine to form a multilithiated polyalkadiene; (c) reacting the multilithiated polyalkadiene with an amount of a second alkadiene monomer to form a branched polyalkadiene; (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) with the branched polyalkadiene one or more times to prepare a dendritic polyalkadiene; and (e) hydrogenating the dendritic polyalkadiene to form the substantially saturated dendritic hydrocarbon polymer.
