    摘要: An improved pressure relief apparatus is disclosed for use with sealed containers such as those found in many galvanic cells. A specially shaped diaphragm (32, 34, 36, 38, 40) is situated across an opening (14) to the interior of the container (10), beneath a piercing point (48). When the pressure within the container reaches a preselected level, the diaphragm snaps rapidly outwardly into contact with the piercing point, thus causing itself to be pierced and relieving the accumulated pressure.

    摘要: The present invention provides a system for venting gas from within a case housing a metal-air cell having a cathode and an anode with a separator positioned therebetween. The cell has at least one gas vent on the anode side of the separator that extends from the interior surface of the case to the exterior surface. Each gas vent has a gas vent cap thereon on the interior surface of the case. A gas permeable, hydrophobic membrane is positioned between each gas vent and gas vent cap. The gas vent, with the gas vent cap positioned thereon, prevents the anode from blocking the venting of gas through the membrane.

    摘要: For objects with non-Lambertian surfaces, an object surface is mapped by effectively modifying the reflective properties of the object surface being sensed. By effectively making the surface Lambertian with high albedo, a calibration imaging task is achieved using a typical camera from a single or small number of camera positions. The calibration method temporarily modifies the surface properties of the imaged object by applying a thin and opaque layer, such as a coating, covering, or veneer, to the object for the duration of the calibration imaging task. The surface of this layer is a Lambertian reflector, with medium to high albedo. The layer is snugly applied, so a shape of the layer is as close as possible to that of the surface. Once the layer is applied, imaging of the layer surface essentially yields the same shape as the underlying object.

During the discharge mode of the cell, the recombination electrode is inactive, and during the recharge mode, the recombination electrode catalyzes the electrochemical recombination of hydrogen and oxygen in the cell to form water. According to another aspect, the cell can comprise a device for indicating the end of the charge mode by sensing the level of current between the cathode and the recombination electrode and comparing that current level to a predetermined current level. When the current level between the cathode and the recombination electrode exceeds the predetermined current level, the device indicates that the end of charge has been reached or can activate a recharge disconnect switch.
