Abstract:
A cold-forming method for forming shapes from a laminate which has a thermosetting resinous core and thermoplastic face sheets is disclosed. The thermoplastic face sheets are of sufficient thickness and strength so that the sandwich containing the thermosetting core between the face sheets may be cold formed into shaped articles and such shape as is imparted to it is retained by the thermoplastic face sheets without substantial external constraint on the shape as the thermosetting core is cured by a catalyst system consisting essentially of a peroxide catalyst in conjunction with high energy radiation.
Abstract:
Glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polymer composite sheets are formed using semicrystalline polymers that have their glass transition temperature above room temperature and may be cold formed, i.e., shaped in a cold mold when preheated outside the mold. Glass-reinforced low molecular weight polyethylene terephthalate, or blends thereof, may be shaped in a cold mold, and exhibit excellent performance.
Abstract:
Apparatus and process for preventing the individual wraps of yarn from entangling as multiple wraps of a continuous length of yarn is texturized at high speeds by guiding the yarn under controlled tension and temperature in frictional engagement with a texturizing element which advances in the same direction as, but at different relative speeds with respect to, the moving yarn.
