    摘要: An intake system of a V-engine provided with a surge tank arranged at a position higher than a cylinder head of the V-engine when attached to the V-engine and divided in internal space into a top part and a bottom part and a plurality of intake tubes communicating the surge tank and intake ports of the V-engine, wherein intake tubes communicated with one cylinder bank of the V-engine are connected to the top part of the surge tank and intake tubes communicated with the other cylinder bank are connected to the bottom part of the surge tank and the surge tank is formed so that a front end of the top part is positioned further toward a rear side of the vehicle compared with the front end of the bottom part when the intake system is mounted to a V-engine mounted in the vehicle, whereby the height of the engine hood can be effectively lowered.

    摘要: To prevent deformation, in the upper portions of cylinder bores, that occurs when the cylinder head is mounted on the cylinder block by using head bolts and to prevent deformation in the upper portions of the cylinder bores caused by the thermal expansion of the cylinder head. In an open deck type cylinder block of an internal combustion engine in which the cylinder bores are separated from the outer shell of the cylinder block by water jackets in the upper deck, thick portions are formed near the ends of the cylinder bores located at both ends of the internal combustion engine in the direction of the crank shaft, the end portions being opposed to the outer shell of the cylinder block in the axial direction of the crank shaft, the thick portions being smoothly continuous with the outer shell of the initial cylinder bores. The thick portions have the greatest thickness at the ends in the direction of the crank shaft. A decreased-diameter portion having a thickness smaller than that of the upper portions is formed in the lower portions of the cylinder bores neighboring the regions where the thick portions are formed, and the decreased-diameter portion and the ordinary cylinder bores of the upper portions thereof are connected together through the tapered portion to decrease the weight of the cylinder block.

    摘要: In a flexible manufacturing system for assembling various types of vehicle bodies, there is employed a work piece carrier on which a work piece positioning device is mounted. The work piece positioning device has a plurality of position changeable work piece holders which are grouped into a plurality of groups each having its own power input device. When the carrier comes to a type switching stage together with the work piece positioning device, a power source installed in the type switching stage is brought into connection with the power input device of one of the groups thereby to changing the positions of the corresponding work piece holders. Then, the power source is brought into connection with the other power input device of the other group to change the positions of the corresponding work piece holders.

    摘要: A bar-code label has a combination of a plurality of narrower slots and a plurality of wider slots encoded to represent specific binary data containing information and/or instructions. The slotted bar-code is encoded on a rigid label member, such as a metal sheet. A bar-code encoding device used to encode the slotted bar-code has a pair of punches, one of which is adapted to form the narrower slots and the other of which is adapted to form the wider slots. Both of the punches are operated simultaneously whenever one of the narrower or wider slots is formed. The blank label is fed past one of the punches to form all of the narrower or wider slots before forming the rest of the wider or narrower slots with the other punch. The encoded label thus formed is suitable for use in painting or coating processes which would obscure a conventionally printed bar-code label.

    摘要: An intake port structure for an internal combustion engine according to the invention includes a valve shaft provided in an intake port; and an airflow control valve that is supported by the valve shaft at one end of the airflow control valve or at a position near the one end. A gap is formed between the airflow control valve and a wall surface of the intake port, which is positioned on one side of the valve shaft. Because intake airflow passes through the gap that is formed, the generation of a deposit is suppressed, and the locking of the airflow control valve is avoided.

    摘要: In an intake system for an internal combustion engine wherein a partition plate is provided within an intake pipe in a longitudinal direction so that an inside is divided into a first intake passage, which is an upper side passage of the above described intake pipe, and a second intake passage, which is a lower side passage of the above described intake pipe, and an intake control valve for opening and closing the second intake passage is provided, the partition plate has holes which connect the first intake passage to the second intake passage and allow fuel on a lower surface of the partition plate to be sucked out to the first intake passage. When an intense tumble flow is created in the first intake passage in the intake system, an air flow toward the first intake passage from the second intake passage is created in the holes so that the fuel that adheres to the partition plate can be sucked out.
