    摘要: A futel injector (10) for an internal combustion engine (88) includes a centerbody (12) and a casing (14) disposed radially outward of the centerbody to define an annular mixing section (16) between the centerbody and the casing. The futel injector also includes an air inlet (e.g., 18) of the mixing section for injecting a first portion (22) of combustion air into the mixing section. A fuel inlet (32) is disposed in the centerbody for injecting fuel (34) into the mixing section. A fuel conduit (48) disposed in the centerbody conducts the fuel to the fuel inlet and a valve (50) disposed in the fuel conduit selectively controls fuel injection into the mixing section. The valve may be positioned sufficiently close to the fuel inlet to provide the desired accurate timed injection. The injector also includes an outlet (19) of the mixing section for discharging a fuel/air mixture (60).

    摘要: A diesel engine system includes a cylinder, an exhaust manifold, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) manifold, and a valve. The exhaust manifold is fluidly coupled with the cylinder and directs exhaust generated in the cylinder to an exhaust outlet that delivers the exhaust to an external atmosphere. The EGR manifold is fluidly coupled with the cylinder and recirculates the exhaust generated in the cylinder back to the cylinder as at least part of intake air that is received by the cylinder. The valve is disposed between the cylinder and the exhaust manifold and between the cylinder and the EGR manifold. The valve has a donating mode and a non-donating mode. The valve fluidly couples the cylinder with the EGR manifold when the valve is in the donating mode and fluidly couples the cylinder with the exhaust manifold when the valve is in the non-donating mode.

    摘要: Various embodiments of the invention relate to an intake channel of an internal combustion engine in which an adjustable position guide vane is configured to modify the velocity distribution inside the intake channel in order to vary the mean swirl number generated by the channel. The intake channel may comprise a combination of two or more ports, which can be helical or tangential, depending on their shape. By varying the velocity distribution inside the intake channel it is possible to vary the mean swirl number in an internal combustion engine. Contrary to existing systems to vary the swirl in internal combustion engines, the invention proposed does not require the separation of both ports inside the intake channel by a wall in order to achieve a variation in the swirl.
