摘要： An antiseptic cleaning agent, generally, comprising chlorhexidine acetate and a solvent, such as an alcohol and/or water. The chlorhexidine acetate acts as a highly effective biocide. Additionally, the chlorhexidine acetate allows the cleaning agent to dry without leaving a tacky residue. Where the cleaning agent comprises one or more alcohols, the alcohols may comprise any suitable alcohols, including lower alcohols having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, such as ethanol and isopropanol. In addition to chlorhexidine acetate, the cleaning agent optionally comprises another non-alcohol biocide, such as triclosan. The cleaning agent can be used in any suitable manner. For instance, the cleaning agent may be impregnated in an absorbent material, such as a towelette, swabstick, or gauze. Additionally, the absorbent material may comprise a positively charged or a non-ionic substance, such as polypropylene or polyester.

摘要： An antimicrobial film forming surgical site preparation composition includes a film forming material and an antimicrobial agent soluble in a fugitive solvent. The composition when applied to the skin surface forms a substantially water insoluble, substantially tack-free flexible film adherent to the skin surface. The film is capable of releasably retaining the antimicrobial agent to substantially inhibit microbial growth on the skin surface. The film releases sufficient antimicrobial agent to substantially eliminate the microorganisms normally present on the skin surface to prepare the surface for the procedure and continues to release the antimicrobial agent during the procedure and subsequent wound healing. The composition can be easily washed from fabric and does not stain the fabric even where the fabric is treated with chlorine bleach. In addition, a smooth continuous film is formed without the use of a separate plasticizer.

摘要： A film forming composition for preparation of a skin surface as a surgical site includes a film forming material and a antimicrobial agent soluble in a fugitive solvent. A method for use of the composition to prepare a skin surface for a surgical procedure includes providing the composition, observing the first color for indicating the skin area covered and the second color indicating that the fugitive solvent has substantially evaporated. A single use kit for preparing a skin surface for a surgical procedure includes a non-resealable unit container of the film forming composition and an applicator in a non-resealable package.

In accordance with one embodiment, the adaptor includes a simulacrum structure of sufficiently narrow width to fit substantially permanently within the slot of the magnetic stripe reading device, while providing sufficient room for a magnetic stripe card to also be concurrently accommodated within the slot and read by the reader head. The simulacrum structure may be in electronic communication with one or more transceivers of wireless communications such as RF and IR.
