    Abstract: In a power supply system, a first route includes a first power supply connected to a first load. A second route includes a second power supply connected to a second load. A connection path connects the first and second routes at a connection point. The first power supply includes a voltage generator generating an operating voltage operating the first and second loads. The second power supply includes an electrical storage device charging based on power supplied from the voltage generator. A switching circuit includes a first switch having a diode component with an anode and a cathode being directed to the electrical storage device and the connection path, respectively, and is disposed between the connection point and the electrical storage device. A switch state controller outputs a switch-off command to the first switch when the electrical storage device is in the fully charged condition.

    Abstract: A power supply system includes: a first system having a first power supply; a second system having a second power supply; and an inter-system switch provided in a connection path connecting the first and second systems. First and second paths are provided in parallel between a connection point, at which the connection path is connected with the second system, and the second power supply. The power supply system further includes: a charging unit provided in the first path to charge, with the inter-system switch closed, a storage battery of the second power supply; a discharge restriction unit provided in the second path to restrict discharge of the storage battery; an abnormality determination unit that determines whether an abnormality has occurred in the discharge restriction unit; and a use restriction unit that restricts use of the second power supply upon determination that an abnormality has occurred in the discharge restriction unit.

    Abstract: An engine control apparatus is provided for controlling an engine of a motor vehicle. The engine control apparatus is configured to automatically stop the engine by stopping combustion in the engine when a predetermined automatic stop condition is satisfied and restart the engine by driving a starter when a predetermined restart condition is satisfied. The engine control apparatus includes a calculator and a condition changer. The calculator calculates an accumulated value by accumulating a starter deterioration-related value each time the engine is started or restarted by the starter; the accumulated value is indicative of the degree of deterioration of the starter. The condition changer changes, when the accumulated value has increased to reach a threshold value, the predetermined automatic stop condition so as to lower the frequency of the engine being automatically stopped and restarted and thereby suppress deterioration of the starter.

    Abstract: A power supply system which includes a first system, a second system, and a system-to-system switch. The first system delivers electrical power from a first power supply to an electrical load through a first power feeding path. The second system delivers electrical power from a second power supply to the electrical load through a second power feeding path. The system-to-system switch is arranged in a connecting path which connects the first and second power feeding paths together. The power supply system also has an in-system switch which is disposed in the second power feeding path between a junction of the second power feeding path and the connecting path and the second power supply. When it is determined that a malfunction has occurred in the second system in a condition where the system-to-system switch and the in-system switch are closed, the system-to-system switch is opened. The power supply system controls an opening-closing operation of the in-system switch when the system-to-system switch is opened, thereby limiting flow of electrical current from the second power supply to the second system and prevents voltages applied to the system-to-system switch from undesirably dropping due to a surge voltage developed in the second system which arise from the limitation of flow of the electrical current.

    Abstract: A power supply system includes: electrical loads; a first system including a first power supply that outputs a power supply voltage; a second system including a second power supply that includes a storage battery; an inter-system switch; an abnormality determination unit that determines whether an abnormality has occurred in the first system; and a state control unit that opens the inter-system switch when it is determined that an abnormality has occurred in the first system. A first path and a second path are provided in parallel with each other between a connection point and the second power supply. In the first path, there is provided an electric power converter. The storage battery is charged to a voltage higher than the lower limit of drive voltages of the electrical loads. Through the second path, the voltage of the storage battery can be applied, bypassing the power converter, to the electrical loads.
