摘要: The present disclosure relates to a method for entraining in an airflow a medicament powder contained in a cavity having a cavity opening. Large airflow vortices are provided, for instance, by use of an obstacle in a flow passage, The airflow with large vortices is arranged to by-pass the cavity opening, thereby generating an eddy in the cavity which contributes to entraining the powder in said airflow. The present disclosure also relates to a medical dispenser, for instance an inhaler, in which the method may be performed.

摘要: An inhaler including an outlet and a plurality of sealed compartments containing medicament is disclosed. An opening mechanism is provided to open the compartment presently aligned with the outlet. An indexing mechanism sequentially aligns the compartments with the outlet. A latch is provided for latching the opening mechanism in an energized position. The latch cannot latch the opening mechanism before the indexing mechanism has aligned the next compartment with the outlet. A method of priming an inhaler and a method of dispensing a medicament from an inhaler is also disclosed.

摘要: The present invention relates to an inhaler, comprising a base having at least one air-tight, foil-sealed cavity containing medicament. An actuator is engagable with a separating element attached to the foil, the actuator having an energized position in which it is biased towards an unloaded position so as to cause the separating element and attached foil to be moved away from the cavity. A latch has a first position, in which it latches the actuator in said energized position, wherein the latch is at least partly arranged in a flow path such that an inhalation flow through the flow path affects the latch to move from the first position to the second position. The invention also relates to a method of dispensing a medicament from a sealed cavity inside an inhaler.

摘要: Optoelectronic components, specifically, ceramic optical sub-assemblies are described. In one aspect, the optoelectronic component includes a ceramic base substrate having a pair of angled (or substantially perpendicular) faces. The electrical traces are formed directly on the ceramic surfaces and extend between the pair of faces. A semiconductor chip assembly is mounted on the first face of the ceramic base substrate and a photonic device is mounted on the second face. Both the semiconductor chip assembly and the photonic device are electrically connected to traces on the ceramic base substrate. The semiconductor chip assembly is generally arranged to be electrically connected to external devices. The photonic devices are generally arranged to optically communicate with one or more optical fibers. The described structure may be used with a wide variety of photonic devices. It is particularly well adapted for use with vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (or laser arrays) and detectors (or detector arrays). In some embodiments, at least the cathode of the photonic device is soldered directly to a cathode pad on the base substrate. Similarly, in some embodiments, the semiconductor chip assembly is electrically connected to the base substrate by direct soldering. Specific base substrate structures are disclosed as well.

Movement of an actuator sequentially causes mechanical energy to be built up and then released and converted into an indexing movement of the compartments.
