Abstract:
Guided biopsy is a commonly used method to remove suspicious tissues from an internal organ for pathological tests so that malignancy can be established. Provided herein are systems and methods (i.e., utilities) that allow for automated application of one or more predefined biopsy target plans to an acquired medical image including without limitation, an ultrasound prostate image. Due to different shapes and sizes of prostates as well as orientation of prostate with respect to an ultrasound probe during image, acquisition a simple prostate model (e.g., ellipse) with a fixed plan may not be sufficient. Accordingly, it has been determined that a deformable shape model with integrated biopsy target locations/sites may be fit to a prostate image to provide improved automated biopsy targeting.
Abstract:
An improved system and method (i.e. utility) for registration of medical images is provided. The utility registers a previously obtained volume (s) onto an ultrasound volume during an ultrasound procedure to produce a multimodal image. The multimodal image may be used to guide a medical procedure. In one arrangement, the multimodal image includes MRI information presented in the framework of a TRUS image during a TRUS procedure.
Abstract:
In embodiments, apparatuses, methods and storage media (transitory and non-transitory) are described that are associated with end-to-end datacenter performance control. In various embodiments, an apparatus for computing may receive a datacenter performance target, determine an end-to-end datacenter performance level based at least in part on quality of service data collected from a plurality of nodes, and send a mitigation command based at least in part on a result of a comparison of the end-to-end datacenter performance level determined to the datacenter performance target. In various embodiments, the apparatus for computing may include one or more processors, a memory, a datacenter performance monitor to receive a datacenter performance target corresponding to a service level agreement, and a mitigation module to send a mitigation command based at least in part on a result of a comparison of an end-to-end datacenter performance level to a datacenter performance target.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of systems and methods for data distribution to portable electronic devices are described herein. Initially a data server receives a data download request from one or more portable electronic devices. Next the requested data is divided into a plurality of data portions. Next based on an-hoc network, a data-transfer route between the one or more portable electronic devices and a plurality of portable electronic devices connected to the data server are identified. The data server then forwards the plurality of data portions to the plurality of portable electronic devices connected to the data server. Finally, based on the identified data-transfer route, the requested data from the one or more portable electronic devices to the other portable electronic devices is transferred.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a formulation containing curcuminoids exhibiting enhanced in vivo bioavailability and resultant improved efficacy, said formulation comprising curcuminoids and a gel forming, non digestive and soluble dietary polysaccharide fiber galactomannan and proteins derived from fenugreek [Trigonella Foenum graecum]. The invention also relates to a process for producing the said formulation and extracting non-digestible soluble dietary polysaccharide fiber galacomannans containing proteins from fenugreek seeds.
Abstract:
Provided herein are devices and methods for mounting variously configured medical imaging probes to a tracker assembly for imaging applications. In one aspect, a tracker assembly provides multiple degrees of freedom for positioning a probe relative to a patient and/or maintaining a probe in a desired location for imaging purposes. The tracker generates location information that may be utilized as frame of reference information for acquired images. In another aspect a holding device allows for interfacing/holding differently configured probes in a common orientation to a predetermined frame of reference.
Abstract:
A method for designing a multi-threaded processing operation that includes, e.g., multimedia encoding/decoding, uses an architecture having multiple processors and optional hardware accelerators. The method includes the steps of: identifying a desired chronological sequence of processing stages for processing input data including identifying interdependencies of said processing stages; allotting each said processing sage to a processor; staggering the processing to accommodate the interdependencies; selecting a processing operation based on said allotting to arrive at a subset of possible pipelines that offer low average processing time; and, choosing one design pipeline from said subset to result in overall timing reduction to complete said processing operation. The invention provides a multi-threaded processing pipeline that is applicable in a System-on-Chip (SoC) using a DSP and shared resources such as DMA controller and on-chip memory, for increasing the throughput. The invention also provides an article which is programmed to execute the method.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for three-dimensional (3D) imaging and continuously updating organ shape and internal points for guiding targets during motion. It is suitable for image-guided surgery or operations as the speed of this guidance is achieved in real-time.
Abstract:
There is provided a system for transmission of power and/or information between a first location external of a living body and a second position internal of the living body which comprises: (a) a primary controller (2) comprising a power source and a transmitter locatable at the first locations; and (b) an antenna (12) based device (10) locatable at the second position to receive an output from the transmitter, wherein the power source is adapted to emit high frequency electromagnetic radiation between 0.5 to 5 GHz. A medical appliance comprising a spring-based stent incorporating a monitoring device wherein the spring of the stent acts as the aerial for the monitoring device and wherein the medical appliance is capable of receiving electromagnetic radiation with a frequency between 0.5 to 5 GHz.
Abstract:
Technologies for identifying service functions that may be performed in parallel in a service function chain include a computing device for running one or more virtual machines for each of a plurality of service functions based on a preferred service function chain being selected. To identify which service functions may be performed in parallel, the computing device may determine which service functions are not required to be performed on a critical path of the service function chain and/or which service functions are not required to be performed in real-time. Additionally, selecting the preferred service function chain may be based on selection criteria.
