A first condensing part is provided under the guiding plate, and condenses light which is diffused from the grooves and reflected from a subject placed on the guiding plate. Disclosed herein is a pyramid-shaped near field probe which forms and changes a near field at the aperture of the probe. The pyramid-shaped near field probe of the present invention includes a probe body and metal films. The probe body is constructed in the form of a pyramid using a semiconductor process using a dielectric member and receives an electromagnetic wave. The metal films are symmetrically coated on two predetermined sides of four sides of the probe body while being spaced apart from each other. The pyramid-shaped near field probe allows a surface plasmon wave induced on the surfaces of the metal films due to the electromagnetic wave to progress to the aperture of the probe body through the boundary surface between the probe body and the metal films.

A distance measuring apparatus according to an aspect of the invention may include: a light source irradiating reference light to measure a distance; a lower reflective mirror reflecting the reference light to irradiate the reference light onto a peripheral obstacle, and reflecting reflected light, rebounded from an obstacle, so that the reflected light moves in an opposite direction along the same optical path as the reference light; a sensor lens arranged above the lower reflective mirror, converting the reference light into parallel light beams and focusing the reflected light; an upper reflective mirror arranged above the sensor lens and switching an optical path of the reflected light; and an optical sensor receiving the reflected light having the optical path thereof switched by the upper reflective mirror, wherein the upper reflective mirror reflects back the reflected light, focused after passing through the sensor lens, in an opposite direction to a moving direction thereof so that a focus of the reflected light is formed between the lower reflective mirror and the upper reflective mirror.

A cardiac ablation device, including a catheter and an expandable ablation element incorporating one or more balloons at the distal end of the catheter, has a continuous passageway extending through it from the proximal end of the catheter to the distal side of the expandable ablation element. A probe carrying electrodes is introduced through this passageway and deploys, under the influence of its own resilience, to a structure incorporating a loop which is automatically aligned with the axis of the expandable ablation device, so that minimal manipulation is required to place the probe. The probe may have an atraumatic tip with a ball formed at the leading edge. The atraumatic tip prevents any tissue damage such as perforation of heart wall.
