The acrylic copolymer of the curable coating composition has, in polymerized form, epoxy functionalized groups and cure compatibility groups and the silicone imine forms an amino-functional silicone in the presence of water. The coating compositions are useful in the field of superior weatherable and durable coatings and are useful to replace isocyanate-containing polyurethane based coatings. Also provided are coated articles produced from the curable composition.

Curable coating compositions for preventing biofouling include a) at least one epoxy resin; b) at least one amine-functional poly(dialkylsiloxane) polymer in an amount from 1 to 70% based on the combined weights of components a) and b); and c) at least one alkylene polyamine, polyalkylene polyamine or polymercaptan epoxy curing agent; wherein components b) and c) together provide about 0.75 to 1.5 equivalents of amine nitrogen atoms and/or thiol groups per equivalent of epoxy groups provided by component a). When cured to form an antifouling coating, the coating exhibits a water contact angle of at least 100° as measured using an optical contact angle meter at 22° C. The coating composition adheres well to many substrates, provides good anticorrosion protection and is an effective anti-biofouling measure.

The cross-linkable coating composition comprises: (a) polyaldehyde, or acetal or hemiacetal thereof; (b) an acid catalyst having pKa of less than 6; (c) a liquid media; (d) an acrylic polycarbamate comprising at least an average of 2.0 carbamate functional groups, wherein said polycarbamate has a glass transition (Tg) of less than 25° C.; and (e) one or more fillers having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9 and/or one or more pigments having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9, and/or one or more additives having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9, wherein said composition has a curing temperature in the range of less than 70° C.

The present invention provides coated films and packages formed from such films. In one aspect, a coated film comprises (a) a film comprising (i) a first layer comprising from 70 to 100 percent by weight of a polyethylene having a density 0.930 g/cm3 or less and a peak melting point of less than 126° C.; (ii) a second layer comprising from 60 to 100 percent by weight polyethylene having a density of 0.905 to 0.970 g/cm3 and a peak melting point in the range of 100° C. to 135° C.; and (iii) at least one inner layer between the first layer and the second layer comprising from 40 to 100 percent by weight of a polyethylene having a density from 0.930 to 0.970 g/cm3 and a peak melting point in the range of 120° C. to 135° C., wherein the polyethylene is a medium density polyethylene or a high density polyethylene; and (b) a coating on an outer surface of the second layer of the film comprising a crosslinked polyurethane, wherein the coating is substantially free of isocyanate groups. In some embodiments, the coated film is thermally resistant when subjected to a W-fold test at a temperature of at least 230° F., and/or has a gloss of at least 70 units at 60°.
