Abstract: A water recycle system may be implemented to analyze and selectively recycle wastewater generated by an industrial textile washer. In some examples, wastewater generated by the industrial textile washer undergoes various treatment processes, such as chemical treatments (e.g., addition of flocculants, chelating agents) and/or physical separation treatments (e.g., processing in a dissolved air floatation system to remove particulates). This can generate a clarified wastewater. One or more sensors can be positioned to measure characteristics of the clarified wastewater, such as the color of the clarified wastewater and corresponding tendency to stain textile articles if recycled to the washer. Based on measurements from the one or more sensors, the clarified wastewater can be recycled for reuse in the textile washer or, alternatively, discarded.

Abstract: Systems and methods can be used for correcting for the presence of voids in a fluid when measuring the conductivity thereof. The conductivity of a fluid can be measured using a conductivity sensor. Capacitance electrodes can be used to measure the capacitance of the fluid. The measured capacitance affected by the fluid can be used in combination with the measured conductivity to determine a corrected conductivity value that compensates for possible voids in the fluid. Other parameters, such as the makeup or temperature of the fluid can be used in determining the corrected conductivity measurement. Some such systems include an annular housing and can be inserted or integrated into fluid flow systems so that fluid to be analyzed flows through an aperture defined by the annular housing.

Abstract: A fluid flow meter is described, that includes intermeshing gears that may rotate synchronously. The fluid flow meter may produce a pulsed output that can be normalized to suitable values according to a method of normalizing input pulses generated in response to the rotation of gears. A volume counter can be incremented by an amount equal to a volume per input pulse each time an input pulse is generated. When the volume counter exceeds a first reference volume, a normalized output pulse can be generated until the volume counter exceeds a second reference volume.

Abstract: An optical sensor may have multiple detection channels to detect different characteristics of a fluid. For example, an optical sensor used in industrial cleaning and sanitizing applications may have multiple detection channels to detect when a system is both clean and properly sanitized. In one example, an optical sensor includes an optical emitter that directs light into a fluid, a first optical detector that detects light transmitted through the fluid, a second optical detector that detects light scattered by the fluid, and a third optical detector that detects fluorescent emissions emitted by the fluid. The optical emitter and optical detectors can be positioned around an optical analysis area. The optical sensor may include filters that control the characteristics of light detected by each of the optical detectors.

Abstract: Out of product sensors can include a housing having a first surface and defining a flow channel. A circuit board can be coupled to the first surface of the housing and support a thermistor bridge. The thermistor bridge can be arranged so that some thermistors are in a first sensing area and other thermistors are in a second sensing area. The housing can be configured such that thermal resistance between the flow channel and the first sensing area is lower than thermal resistance between the flow channel and the second sensing area, and/or fluid flowing in the flow channel is directed more toward the first sensing area than the second sensing area. Liquid in the flow channel can affect thermal behavior of thermistors in the first and second sensing area differently and can be used to determine whether liquid is flowing through the sensor.

Abstract: A fluid flow meter is described, that includes intermeshing gears that rotate synchronously. The fluid flow meter has a nominal operating range between a maximum volumetric flow rate and a minimum volumetric flow rate. The flow meter has a flow sensor to produce a pulsed output and a controller operatively coupled to a data storage medium. The controller can receive detection signal from the flow sensor to generate input pulses and determine an input pulse frequency. The controller can determine whether the fluid flow meter is operating outside the nominal operating range and apply a correction function to input pulses to generate linearized output pulses. The controller may generate the correction function based on the input pulse frequency and a predetermined pulse frequency; or based on the time interval between input pulses and a predetermined interval between input pulses; or based on a generic calibration of the fluid flow meter.

Abstract: A method of detecting concentration of dipicolinic acid and terbium chloride in a chemical composition with a fluorometer, wherein the fluorometer comprises an excitation source for emitting electromagnetic radiation at one or more wavelengths, and a detector module for detecting fluorescence emitted by dipicolinic acid, emitting electromagnetic radiation from the excitation source at wavelengths that induce fluorescence in dipicolinic acid-terbium chloride combination present in the chemical composition, detecting the fluorescence emitted by the dipicolinic acid-terbium chloride combination via the detector module, and determining the concentration of dipicolinic acid using predetermined relationship between fluorescence emitted and the concentration of dipicolinic acid-terbium chloride combination.
