Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for coordinating and providing bidirectional energy transfer events between electrified vehicles and households or other structures, such as for supporting household loads associated with the structures during power outage conditions. In some implementations, available energy may be rationed from the vehicle to the structure based on a power outage restoration estimate. Rather than supporting household loads with constant energy during power outage conditions, the disclosed systems/methods may provide strategic rationing of bidirectional energy transfer in order to extend appliance operation for the duration of power outage conditions.

Abstract: Systems and methods are proposed for coordinating and providing assistive traction drive forces during towing events between a motor vehicle and one or more charging trailers. The assistive traction drive forces may be provided in the form of a propulsive torque applied by an electric machine of the charging trailer. Electrical energy for powering the electric machine may be supplied by a powertrain system of the towing vehicle or an energy storage device of an electrified recreational/industrial vehicle that is operably connected to the charging trailer. Energy expended by the energy storage device for powering the electric machine may be replenished during the towing event by regenerative braking.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for coordinating and controlling power flow during bidirectional energy transfer events between an electrified vehicle and one or more charging trailers. The systems and methods may prioritize energy transfers between each connected energy unit based on various parameters, including but not limited to battery prognostic information, driving habits/predicted behavior, user preferences, etc. Charge energy may be transferred to the appropriate energy unit using a semi-automated approach to meet customer needs with varying levels of priority according to an energy transfer prioritization control strategy that is derived from the various inputs that are considered.

Abstract: Responsive to indication that a predicted amount of solar or wind power from a power generating event will exceed a power storage capability of one or more power storage devices configured to receive the solar or wind power, controllers may command the one or more power storage devices to discharge energy to a power grid before the power generating event such that the power storage capability of the one or more power storage devices increases.

Abstract: A vehicle configurable to tow a charging trailer having at least one electric outlet configured to charge a battery powered device includes a human-machine interface (HMI), a wireless transceiver, and a controller in communication with the wireless transceiver and the HMI, the controller programmed to, in response to the wireless transceiver receiving signals associated with at least one battery powered device in a connected charging trailer having a battery state of charge (SOC) below a corresponding threshold, signal the HMI to generate an associated output. Input from the HMI may enable or disable regenerative braking of the charging trailer to charge connected battery powered devices to control the associated effect of the charging of devices in the charging trailer on efficiency of the towing vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods are configured for coordinating and providing passthrough charging during bidirectional energy transfer events between two or more electrified vehicles. The ability to pass charging power from one vehicle to another allows for multiple vehicles to be concurrently charged from a single charge source. Various passthrough charging strategies may be achieved with the proposed systems, including but not limited to, a distributed charging strategy, a waterfall charging strategy, a targeted charging strategy, an automated charging strategy, a pay-for-use charging strategy, etc.

Abstract: Systems and methods for coordinating and providing steering assistance between towing vehicles and towed vehicles during towing events. The towing steering assistance may be provided by the towed vehicle in the form of assistive steering maneuvers to assist the towing vehicle with turning during the towing event. The assistive steering maneuvers may be provided to account for turning maneuvers, steering compensation, and stability events of the coupled vehicles during the towing events, for example.

Abstract: A vehicle automatically engages a transportation security mode responsive to a vehicle location corresponding to a location predefined for engagement of the security mode. The vehicle also determines that the vehicle has begun movement, and that a characteristic of the movement corresponds to a trigger for a security action designated for the location predefined for engagement of the security mode. The vehicle, based on the movement, characteristic, and location predefined for engagement of the security mode, automatically engages the security action.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for coordinating and controlling power flow during bidirectional energy transfer events between an electrified vehicle and one or more charging trailers. The systems and methods may prioritize energy transfers between each connected energy based on a charge priority selection that may be manually input by a user of the system. Charge energy may be transferred to the appropriate energy unit using such a manual approach to meet customer needs with varying levels of priority according to an energy transfer prioritization control strategy that is derived from various inputs that are considered.
