Abstract: A power control system for a vehicle includes a charge port and a contactor connected to the charge port and including a first plurality of switches. An energy storage system includes a second plurality of switches and one or more battery packs. A bi-directional DC-DC converter is connected between the energy storage system and a plurality of vehicle loads. A controller is configured to control states of the first and second plurality of switches to configure in a plurality of modes including a range improvement mode, a first charging mode to perform charging at a first voltage level, a second charging mode to perform charging at a second voltage level, a battery preconditioning mode; and an accessory load support mode.

Abstract: A battery module includes: positive and negative terminals disposed on an exterior of a housing of the battery module; groups of two or more cylindrical battery cells, each of the battery cells of each group having positive and negative terminals; and electrically conductive busbars that electrically connect the groups, that electrically connect positive terminals of the battery cells of a first one of the groups with the positive terminal of the battery module, and that electrically connect negative terminals of the battery cells of a second one of the groups with the negative terminal of the battery module; and a cooling plate including: first and second second planar plates; and a coolant channel plate that is sandwiched between the first and second planar plates that includes: an inlet; an outlet; and a coolant channel that extends in at least two different directions.

Abstract: A vehicle propulsion system includes an internal combustion engine configured to output a primary output torque and at least one fuel injector arranged to supply fuel to a combustion chamber of the engine. The propulsion system also includes at least one exhaust aftertreatment device to capture combustion byproducts within an exhaust flow. The propulsion system also includes an electric machine coupled to the engine to exchange torque. A controller is programmed to supply a baseline fuel injection corresponding to a first engine output to satisfy a driver torque demand and to periodically supplement the baseline target fuel injection quantity to increase engine output torque to overshoot the first engine output thereby increasing combustion byproducts to regenerate the at least one exhaust aftertreatment device. The controller is also programmed to apply a resistive torque from the electric machine such that an overall propulsion system torque remains at the driver torque demand.

The energy management system is configured to selectively connect individual ones of the plurality of batteries to at least one of the plurality of loads via the DC bus, selectively connect the battery system to the power grid and disconnect the battery system from the power grid, and selectively connect at least one of the plurality of loads directly to the power grid.

Abstract: A power control system for a battery system of a vehicle includes one or more supplemental protection devices that are connected to at least one of a first contactor, a second contactor, one of N fuses, and one of N vehicle loads. A battery management module is configured to measure and store a plurality of state of health parameters for the battery system and to selectively operate the one or more supplemental protection devices in a coverage gap between first and second coverage areas handled by the first contactor and the second contactor and the N fuses based on a calibration function and/or calibration parameters. A telematics system selectively sends the plurality of state of health parameters for the battery system to a remote server and to receive at least one of a new calibration function and new calibration parameters for the vehicle from the remote server.

Abstract: A power control system for a battery system of a vehicle includes a first contactor, a second contactor, N fuses and N vehicle loads. An active sacrificial protection device includes a third contactor and a first fuse. The active sacrificial protection device is connected to a positive or negative terminal of the battery system. A current sensor is configured to sense a measured load current flowing through one of the first contactor and the second contactor. A battery management module is configured to selectively close the third contactor to reduce current flowing through one of the first contactor or the second contactor and selectively open the one of the first contactor or the second contactor after closing the third contactor.

Abstract: A cooling assembly according to various aspects of the present disclosure includes a housing, an electronic component, a dielectric coolant, and a cover. The housing includes an interior compartment having a basin region in which the electronic component and the coolant are disposed. The coolant undergoes phase change between a liquid state and a gas state. The coolant is in direct contact with the electronic component in the liquid state. The cover component extends transversely through the interior compartment and is coupled to the body. The cover component is disposed in a direction with respect to the basin region. The cover component at least partially defines a port in fluid communication with the basin region. The cover component is configured to permit flow therethrough of the dielectric coolant in the gas state in at least the direction.
