Abstract: An electric machine disposed within a housing includes a stator, a rotor, and one or more point field detectors. The stator receives current from an inverter. The rotor is connected to and rotating a shaft based on a magnetic field generated by the stator. The one or more point field detectors are configured to detect leakage flux within the housing. The stator, the rotor and the one or more point field detectors are disposed within the housing.

Abstract: A battery includes: a first terminal; a second terminal; a plurality of individually housed batteries; a plurality of switches configured to connect ones of the individually housed batteries to and from ones of the first and second terminals; and a switch control module configured to: at a frequency, vary a voltage applied to a gate of one of the switches, the one of the switches configured to connect at least one of the individually housed batteries to one of the first and second terminals; and diagnose whether a fault is present in the one of the switches based on a voltage across the one of the switches.

Abstract: A modular dynamically allocated capacity storage system (MODACS) is provided and includes a housing and a control module. The housing includes source terminals, switches, cells, and sensing module. The source terminals supplying power at a first voltage potential to a first plurality of loads and power at a second voltage potential to a second plurality of loads. The cells are configured to supply power to each of the source terminals based on states of the switches. The sensing modules are configured to determine parameters of each of the cells and generate corresponding status signals. The control module is configured to receive a power request signal, and based on the power request signal and the parameters of each of the cells, determine a connected configuration for the cells relative to each other and the plurality of source terminals and set states of the switches according to the connected configuration.

Abstract: A vehicle propulsion system includes an internal combustion engine configured to output a primary output torque and at least one fuel injector arranged to supply fuel to a combustion chamber of the engine. The propulsion system also includes at least one exhaust aftertreatment device to capture combustion byproducts within an exhaust flow. The propulsion system also includes an electric machine coupled to the engine to exchange torque. A controller is programmed to supply a baseline fuel injection corresponding to a first engine output to satisfy a driver torque demand and to periodically supplement the baseline target fuel injection quantity to increase engine output torque to overshoot the first engine output thereby increasing combustion byproducts to regenerate the at least one exhaust aftertreatment device. The controller is also programmed to apply a resistive torque from the electric machine such that an overall propulsion system torque remains at the driver torque demand.

Abstract: A generator system includes an AC machine including a plurality of armature coils and a rectifier circuit electrically coupled to the armature coils. The rectifier circuit includes a plurality of switches. The generator system additionally includes a sensor device electrically coupled to a control circuit. The sensor device is configured to determine a rotor position of the AC machine. The control circuit determines a desired phase angle between a phase current and an induced voltage of the AC machine and provides a control signal to the rectifier circuit to switch the switches on and off to convert an AC signal to a DC signal and to control the rotor position of the AC machine to achieve the desired phase angle.
