Abstract:
Autonomous diesel vehicles and control methods thereof are disclosed. An autonomous vehicle may include a peripheral information collecting unit configured to collect peripheral information necessary for autonomous travelling through an image camera and a laser scanner, a main control unit configured to control the autonomous travelling with reference to the peripheral information collected by the peripheral information collecting unit, a passenger monitoring unit configured to check whether a passenger exists inside the vehicle through a sensor and transmit a result of the check to the main control unit, and an engine control unit configured to control driving of an engine and injection of fuel of an injector according to a control instruction of the main control unit. When the passenger is inside the vehicle, the main control unit performs a pilot injection control, and when the passenger is not inside the vehicle, the main control unit omits the pilot injection control.

A method of cooling an engine of a vehicle includes measuring a temperature of a cylinder head of the engine, determining whether the measured temperature of the cylinder head may be equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature, when the temperature of the cylinder head may be equal to or lower than the predetermined temperature, moving coolant of the cylinder head and a cylinder block to a separate coolant tank, determining whether the measured temperature of the cylinder head may be equal to or higher than a specific temperature, and when the measured temperature of the cylinder head may be equal to or higher than the specific temperature, supplying coolant stored in the coolant tank to the cylinder head or the cylinder block.

A device for reducing fuel dilution of a diesel engine may include an engine oil level sensor mounted to an oil pan for storing engine oil, to sense a level of the engine oil, a heater switch switched on by a signal of a controller, when the level of the engine oil in the oil pan is increased to a reference level or more by fuel diluted in the engine oil, and a heater connected to the heater switch in the oil pan, to evaporate the fuel diluted in the engine oil while being operated by an on state of the heater switch.

A method of maintaining diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration for improving durability of a DPF, may include determining, by a controller, whether a vehicle enters an idle state during the DPF regeneration, controlling, by the controller, a concentration of oxygen introduced into the DPF to be equal to or less than a first reference value when the vehicle enters the idle state, and performing, by the controller, a regeneration process until a soot mass in the DPF may be equal to or less than a target reference value.

A method for regenerating a lean NOx trap (LNT) of an exhaust purification system having the LNT and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst includes determining whether a regeneration release condition of the LNT is satisfied; determining whether a regeneration demand condition of the LNT is satisfied; and performing regeneration of the LNT if the regeneration release condition of the LNT and the regeneration demand condition of the LNT are satisfied, wherein satisfaction of the regeneration release condition of the LNT is determined based on an NOx amount absorbed in the LNT, an NH3 amount stored in the SCR catalyst and temperature at an upstream of the SCR catalyst.
