Abstract:
A motor controller circuit includes an electrical powertrain having a three phase input, a DC link and a three phase output, a controller including a processor and a memory, a first current sensor configured to sense a current at the three phase input, a second current sensor configured to sense a current at the three phase output, and a third sensor configured to sense a current at the DC link, and wherein the memory stores instructions configured to cause the processor to compare an operational model of the powertrain against a mathematical model of the powertrain and to detect a high impedance fault when a deviation between the operational model and the mathematical model exceeds a threshold.
Abstract:
A start inverter for an electric engine start scheme includes an inverter phase leg with solid-state switches and a pulse width modulator operatively connected to the solid-state switches of the inverter phase leg. The pulse width modulator provides command signals to the solid-state switches of the inverter phase leg to invert direct current into alternating current with less ripple than a start inverter with two solid-state switches per phase leg.
Abstract:
An electronics system module includes a primary electrical circuit including input connectors and output connectors and a filter circuit connected between the primary electrical circuit and ground. The module also includes a switch element connected between the primary electrical circuit and ground. The switch element is configured to be engaged by a test connector to open the switch to disconnect the primary electrical circuit from ground. The test connector includes electrical connectors configured to connect to the input connectors and the output connectors of the primary electrical circuit. The switch element is configured to automatically close based on the test connector being disengaged from the switch element
Abstract:
In accordance with one or more embodiments, a method for implementing a PMG variable speed constant frequency generating system on an aircraft including an aircraft engine is provided. The method includes receiving AC power from a PMG at an AC/DC conversion stage, the received power being proportional to a rate of rotation of the aircraft engine and converting the AC power to DC power in the AC/DC conversion stage. The method further includes sensing a DC voltage output by the AC/DC conversion stage and providing the DC voltage to a DC/AC conversion stage. The method includes providing a control signal to the DC/AC conversion stage to control a frequency and a voltage of an output signal of the DC/AC conversion stage without varying an electrical signal provided to the PMG.
Abstract:
A three phase step-up autotransformer construction is discussed herein. The passive 12-pulse AC-DC converter offers simplicity, high reliability and low cost solution to AC-DC power conversion. The autotransformer is a component of the passive 12-pulse AC-DC converter. The autotransformer converts three-phase AC power into six-phase AC power. With appropriate vector design, the autotransformer may be configured to draw a near sinusoidal 12-pulse current waveform from the three-phase voltage source. The six-phase output may be configured to drive a rectifier (non-linear) load.

Abstract:
A method includes characterizing the effects of an electric field on a first set of printed wiring boards (PWBs) by testing the first set of PWBs to generate test data, using the test data to determine a dielectric life curve of the first set of PWBs, and based on the dielectric life curve, defining a screening time and a screening voltage to screen for premature failures in a second set of PWBs due to electric fields.
Abstract:
A universal AC to DC converter may be configured to convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), such as for use in aerospace applications. The disclosure relates to a single universal power electronic converter capable of converting an AC input voltage, such as a line to neutral input voltage of either 115 Vrms or 230 Vrms nominal to 28 V DC.
