Fluorine-containing organosilicon compounds having the following general formula:CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHCH.sub.2 NHCO--[Rf--CONH(CH.sub.2).sub.3 --Q--(CH.sub.2).sub.3 NHCO].sub.a --Rf--CONHCH.sub.2 CH .dbd.CH.sub.2wherein a is an integer of 1 or above, Rf is a divalent perfluoropolyether group, and Rf is a divalent cyclosiloxane group containing an unsubstituted or substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group without an aliphatically unsaturated bond. The compounds are of use as a starting material in synthesizing rubbers or mold release agents which are high in such properties as solvent resistance, chemical resistance and the like.

In polymerizing hexafluoropropene oxide (HFPO) into a fluorinated polyether, a liquefied gas of fluorocarbon having 1 to 4 carbon atoms is added to a reactor. HFPO is polymerized in the reactor while maintaining a gas phase in the reactor under a pressure lower than the vapor pressure of the liquefied gas and allowing the liquefied gas to evaporate from the polymerization system. Heat of polymerization can be efficiently removed from the HFPO polymerization system of high viscosity, and the polymerization temperature is kept low.

The present room temperature curing composition comprises an organopolysilethylenesiloxane represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 each represent an alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms or a phenyl group and n is an integer of 10 or above, and an organosilane or an organosiloxane having two or more hydrolyzable groups such as alkoxy groups in the molecule. The composition can form a cured product high in rubber strength and excellent in chemical resistance.

The organic silicon compounds of this invention are extremely useful as raw material of rubber cured products with high strength and a superior transparency.

A curable silicone composition, comprising (A) a fluorosilicone represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein Rf represents a perfluoroalkylene group or perfluoropolyether group having 11 to 30 carbon atoms, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 each represent a monovalent hydrocarbon group, a and p are each an integer of 2 or over, b and c are each an integer of 0 or over, and X is a triorganosilyl group, (B) an organohydrogensiloxane containing two or more Si--H groups in the molecule, and (C) a platinum family metal catalyst. This composition upon curing gives a rubberlike elastic product excellent in solvent resistance, chemical resistance, water repellency, and oil repellency and low in moisture permeability.

Disclosed is an organosiloxane polymer-based composition curable by the mechanism of the hydrosilation reaction between silicon-bonded vinyl groups in a vinylsilyl-terminated perfluoropolyalkylene or perfluoropolyalkylene polyether compound and silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms in a hydrosilyl-terminated perfluoropolyalkylene or perfluoropolyalkylene polyether compound as promoted by a catalyst. Different from conventional platinum compounds as the catalyst for the hydrosilation reaction, the catalyst in the inventive composition is a complex compound of rhodium such as tris(triphenylphosphine) rhodium chloride, rhodium acetate dimer and rhodium acetylacetonate so that the composition is imparted with greatly improved storage stability without viscosity increase over months at room temperature but without affectibg the curability at an elevated temperature.

The purification process ensures effective removal of iodides which are sources of molecular iodine, from the fluorine-containing ethylene compound.

A purification method of a fluorine-containing alkylethylene comprises reacting the fluorine-containing alkylethylene with powdered metallic zinc in the presence of an aqueous acetic acid solution. By this method, fluorine-containing alkyl iodide and fluorine-containing alkylethyl iodide, contained as impurities in the fluorine-containing alkylethylene, can be removed effectively, for example, to a level of 1 ppm or below.
