    摘要: An internal combustion engine is disclosed, which comprises a cylinder block having lubrication oil passages formed therein, the oil passages having a cylinder block opening at one longitudinal end of the cylinder block; a crankshaft operatively installed in the cylinder block, the crankshaft having one end portion exposed to the outside of the cylinder block from the one longitudinal end of the same; and a front cover structure attached to the one longitudinal end of the cylinder block. The front cover structure includes a first portion having an oil pump housing formed thereon; an oil pump device driven by the exposed end portion of the crankshaft, the oil pump device being received in the oil pump housing; a second portion having first and second oil passages formed therein, the first oil passage having one end connected to an outlet port of the oil pump device, the second oil passage having one end which is mated with the cylinder block opening; and an oil filter fixed to the second portion and fluidly connected to the other ends of the first and second passages.

    摘要: An intake manifold for a V-type multi-cylinder internal combustion engine provided with two banks each including a cylinder head. The intake mainfold comprises lower and upper intake air collectors which lie one upon another and located above one of the two banks. The intake air collectors are supplied with intake air from an air filter. A first group of branch runners are provided to connect the lower intake air collector with the cylinder head of one bank, while a second group of branch runners are provided to connect the upper intake air collector with the cylinder head of the other bank. The upper end section (connected to the lower intake air collector) of each of the first group of branch runners and the upper end section (connected to the upper intake air collector) of each of the second group of branch runners lie one upon another thereby to form a space required for an ignition device and installation operation therefor, between the adjacent branch runners in the cylinder head logitudinal direction.

    摘要: The hollow plunger of a hydraulic tensioner for an engine timing chain protrudes from a tensioner housing in an oblique downward direction. An inner sleeve fixed to the housing slidably protrudes into the interior of the plunger, and has a ball check valve at its protruding end. Oil is supplied though the sleeve and the check valve to a high pressure oil chamber formed inside the plunger, and flows outward through a two-part leakage path formed by a gap between the sleeve and the interior of the plunger and a gap between the exterior of the plunger and an interior wall of a plunger-accommodating hole in the housing. Any air that enters the tensioner accumulates in a region surrounding the upper end of the sleeve, rather than in the high oil pressure chamber inside the plunger.
