A toner image fixing device includes a driven fixing roller drivingly connected to a driving source and a rotatably mounted follower fixing roller. The follower fixing roller is mounted on a movable supporting member which is mounted for free movement between a contacting position at which the follower fixing roller is kept in press contact with the driven fixing roller and a non-contacting or non-pressing position at which the follower fixing roller is kept out of press contact with the driven fixing roller. A press-contacting control mechanism selectively holds the movable supporting member at the contacting position and the non-contacting position. The press-contacting control mechanism includes a positioning member connected to the movable supporting member via a spring and an actuating device for selectively holding the positioning member at an operating position and a non-operating position. When the positioning member is moved to the operating position, the movable supporting member is moved to the contacting position via the spring. When the positioning member is moved to the non-operating position, the movable supporting member is moved to the non-operating position via the spring.

A free piston is included in each cylinder, the fluid which has not yet been processed is introduced into one of two chambers in the cylinder partitioned by the piston, and processed high-pressure fluid which has been processed is introduced into the other one of the two chamber in the cylinder. The piston pressurizes the fluid with which the cylinder has been filled up. A pressure holding valve is provided in a processed high-pressure fluid system to pressurize an organic substance processing system, and this pressure holding valve suppresses changes in the pressure in the processed high-pressure fluid system. By changing the timing of feeding the fluid before processing into each cylinder, it becomes possible to unbrokenly perform the filling-up of each cylinder with the fluid to be processed, the pressurizing of the fluid to be processed in each cylinder, and the feeding of the pressurized fluid to a reactor. Thus, stable continuous processing of the fluid to be processed can be realized.

A device for use in electrophotographic equipment for collecting toner particles which are removed from a photoconductive element, or image carrier, after imagewise transfer. A collecting roller is located in a portion of a toner tank remote from the bottom of the tank, while a partition formed with a plurality of holes is situated below and in close proximity to the collecting roller. The partition and the bottom of the toner tank define therebetween a space for accommodating the toner being collected. The toner removed from the photoconductive element drops onto the partition. In a first stage, the toner drops through the holdes of the partition to accumulate in the space between the partition and the bottom of the toner tank. In a second stage wherein the toner accumulates to a level above the partition, the toner on the partition is forced out by the collecting blade which is caused into an oscillatory motion by the collecting roller and is thereby dropped over the front end of the partition to accumulate in the toner tank at the front of the partition. In a third stage wherein the toner reachs the collecting blade, the weight of the toner acts on the blade for the first time, and the toner fills up the space remaining in the upper portion of the toner tank.

Stubs individually extend outward from lower portions of opposite ends of a toner collecting tank. The tank is rotatably supported through the stubs by a frame on which the drum is rotatably mounted. Retaining members are securely mounted on the frame so as to retain the tank in position when the latter is rotated toward the drum. A pair of holder support members are provided in upper portions of opposite ends of the tank to support pins engageable with the retaining members of the frame and a blade holder which holds the cleaning blade. While the pins extend outward away from each other from the outer surfaces of the holder support members, the blade holder is rotatably mounted on shafts which extend inward toward each other from the inner surfaces of the holder support members in alignment with the pins.
