    摘要: In one aspect, the present invention relates to a medical device, such as a medical electrical lead, comprising a biomaterial formed from a polymer comprising urethane groups and saturated linear polyethylene moieties wherein the saturated linear polethylene moieties have greater than 12 carbon atoms per moiety. In another aspect, the present invention relates medical devices comprising a biomaterial formed from segmented polymers or polymers having an elongation of greater than 50%. Exemplified polymers contain compounds of the formula HO—(CH2)n—OH wherein n is greater than 12.

    摘要: The apparatus is a rapid response evaporator for material deposition in vapor. The structure is a vessel which is heated to a temperature just above the melting temperature of the liquid which it contains. Inserted into the heated liquid is a funnel shaped evaporator structure in which the vertical tube is a capillary structure to raise the heated liquid from the vessel. The upper diverging portion of the evaporator contains a porous capillary interior coating in contact with the capillary tube, and the exterior is independently heated. Because of the low thermal mass of the upper portion of the evaporator and the liquid in its capillary structure, it can respond to heat changes quickly enough to rapidly vary the rate of evaporation and the thickness of the deposited coating.

    摘要: An adapter assembly is fastened to a preexisting electrical connector assembly having a pair of cover members defining the cable exit. The adapter assembly includes a pair of clamping members which clamp against the cable jacket for strain relief, and the clamping members are fastened to a mounting member which itself is mounted across the cable exit between inwardly facing surface portions of the cover members and secured by the fasteners which previously secured the cover members to each other. The adapter assembly enables an assured strain relief mechanism for a larger dimensioned cable than that for which the preexisting connector was intended. The mounting member can cooperate with the strain relief surfaces previously defined on the cover members at the cable exit to provide a strain relief slightly compressing the conductors arranged in two bundles passing on either side of the mounting member.

    摘要: Silicon doping of GaAs provides n conductivity in {100} planes and p conductivity in {111} A planes. A split level of Si-doped GaAs utilizes this phenomena to provide a bipolar transistor. In one embodiment, the emitter is one level of the layer in the {100} planes, and the collector is another level of the layer in the {100} planes. These n conductivity levels are joined by {111} A planes to form a p conductivity base. The junctions in the layer between the {100} planes and the {111} A planes form an npn transistor.

    摘要: A method is provided for selectively doping a compound semiconductor such as GaAs in situ by molecular beam epitaxy. The surface of the GaAs is coated with a thin layer of As by exposing it to an arsenic flux within a molecular beam epitaxy chamber. Selected areas of the surface are irradiated with a laser beam or a beam of photons, electrons, or ions in order to desorb As and form a mask of As on the surface. Dopant material such as tin is then deposited over the surface and As mask. The semiconductor is then heated to desorb the As mask while leaving the dopant in the unmasked areas. An epitaxial layer of GaAs is then grown over the surface by molecular beam epitaxy.
