    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a battery charger for electric vehicle includes a motor configured to generate power for driving the electric vehicle, an inverter configured to provide the power to the motor, an AC power input terminal configured to be input at least one AC power of single phase AC power and polyphaser AC power from a slow charger, a power factor corrector configured to include a plurality of full bridge circuits through which the AC power is input through the AC power input terminal, a link capacitor configured to connect in parallel with the power factor corrector, a switch network configured to include a first switch SW A provided to connect any one of a plurality of AC power input lines and a neutral line constituting the AC power input terminal with the power factor corrector, and a second switch provided to transfer one of a direct current power input from a quick charger and an alternating current power input from a slow charger to a high voltage battery and a controller configured to control the power factor corrector and the switch network according to the conditions of the AC power and the DC power.

    Abstract: A charging apparatus for an electric vehicle is provided. The apparatus charges a vehicle battery upon receiving power from different power sources. The apparatus includes a motor generating power to drive the electric vehicle and an inverter supplying power to the motor. An AC power input terminal receives at least one of single-phase AC power and multi-phase AC power. A power factor corrector having a single three-leg half bridge circuit receives the AC input power through the AC power input terminal. A link capacitor is charged through a combination of the power factor corrector, the motor, and the inverter. A switch network has at least one switch for selectively connecting the AC power input terminal to the power factor corrector, the link capacitor, the motor, or the inverter. A controller operates the power factor corrector, the switch network, and the inverter based on a condition of received AC input power.

    Abstract: A planar transformer according to the present disclosure can include: at least one pair of cores arranged vertically and symmetrically; and a printed circuit board assembly including primary printed circuit boards having coil patterns forming a primary wiring and secondary printed circuit boards having coil patterns forming a secondary wiring, the secondary printed circuit boards respectively disposed over or under the primary printed circuit boards. The coil patterns of the primary printed circuit boards and the coil patterns of the secondary printed circuit boards can be alternately stacked.

    Abstract: A power conversion system for vehicles is provided. The system includes a switching circuit having first input/output terminals, second input/output terminals and a plurality of switching elements connected between the first input/output terminals and the second input/output terminals. A first energy storage device is connected to the second input/output terminals and has a preset charging/discharging voltage. A first voltage conversion circuit converts power output from the first input/output terminals to output a voltage less than the voltage of the first energy storage device. A second energy storage device is charged/discharged with the output voltage of the first voltage conversion circuit. A controller controls open/short-circuit states of the switching elements based on whether the first energy storage device is being charged and whether the vehicle is traveling. When the first energy storage device is being charged, AC charging power is provided to the first input/output terminals from outside of the vehicle.
