Abstract: A power converter comprises an inductor coil whose first pole is connected to an input terminal of the power converter, a controllable switch between the ground and a second pole of the inductor coil, a first unidirectionally conductive component providing a path for electric current from the inductor coil towards an output terminal of the power converter when the controllable switch is non-conductive, and an over-current protector at the output terminal. The power converter comprises a second unidirectionally conductive component for conducting electric current from the input terminal to the over-current protector in a fault situation where voltage at the output terminal is smaller than voltage at the input terminal. Thus, the second unidirectionally conductive component constitutes a low-inductance bypass route for fault current and enables the over-current protector to react fast to a fault situation.

Abstract: First pulse width modulation control is a control of generating a first pulse width modulation signal for a plurality of switching elements by comparison of modulated waves of voltage commands in phases based on a torque command for a motor with a carrier voltage, and performing switching of the plurality of switching elements. Second pulse width modulation control is a control of generating a second pulse width modulation signal for the plurality of switching elements based on a modulation factor of a voltage and a voltage phase based on the torque command and the number of pulses per unit period of an electrical angle of the motor, and performing switching of the plurality of switching elements. An electronic control unit is configured to switch the plurality of switching elements between the first pulse width modulation control and the second pulse width modulation control at irregular time intervals.

Abstract: An engine and a step up-down converter are controlled such that a counter-electromotive voltage of a first motor becomes higher than direct current-side voltages of a first inverter and a second inverter and thereby torque for forward travel is output from the first motor to a driving shaft through a planetary gear set, when an accelerator is on during specified travelling with gates of the first inverter and the second inverter being cut off and the engine being operated. The engine and the step up-down converter are controlled such that the rotational speed of the first motor becomes smaller and the voltage of the high voltage-side electric power line becomes lower when the accelerator is off than when the accelerator is on during the specified traveling.

Abstract: An electric vehicle receives electric power, in a non-contact manner, from an electric power transmitting coil provided externally to the vehicle. The electric vehicle includes an electric power receiving unit that is disposed at a bottom of the vehicle and receives electric power from the electric power transmitting unit via electromagnetic field resonance; a camera that captures an image of the outside; and a display unit that displays an outside view from the vehicle that is captured by the camera. The electric power receiving unit is disposed at a position that is offset toward a peripheral face, on which the camera is disposed, with respect to the center of the bottom in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

Abstract: In a power storage system, a bidirectional DC-DC converter is set into mode for charging a secondary battery with electricity when a first state of charge (SOC) of the secondary battery is larger than a minimum value of the first SOC, and a second SOC of the capacitor is smaller than a maximum value of the second SOC, and the converter is set into mode for discharging electricity from the secondary battery when the first SOC is smaller than a maximum value of the first SOC, and the second SOC is larger than a minimum value of the second SOC. Based on an internal resistance of the secondary battery, the second SOC, a voltage of a direct current link in case of no load connected to DC link, and an error in a current on a direct current link side, a conduction ratio (D) of the converter is calculated.

Abstract: An electrically powered vehicle includes a power storage device, a motor, a limitation control unit, a notification unit, and a changing unit. The motor generates traveling driving power using electric power output from the power storage device. The limitation control unit limits possible output power, which indicates electric power able to be output from the power storage device, based on a load state of the power storage device. The notification unit notifies a warning when the possible output power is smaller than a threshold value for notifying a driver of decrease of the traveling driving power. The changing unit increases, when the load state of the power storage device is high, the threshold value to be larger than the threshold value when the load state of the power storage device is low.

Abstract: An object is to reduce a discharging time required for discharging residual charges of a capacitor. A power conversion device according to the present invention includes: an inverter circuit unit; a step-up circuit unit; a smoothing capacitor; and a step-up circuit control unit which controls the step-up circuit unit, wherein the step-up circuit unit has a first switching element, a second switching element connected electrically in series to the first switching element, and a reactor having a conducting current controlled by switching operation of the first switching element and the second switching element, and the step-up circuit control unit has a first control mode of controlling the switching operation of the first switching element and the second switching element by changing a duty command value and outputting a stepped up voltage from the step-up circuit unit, and a discharge control mode of discharging electric charges stored in the smoothing capacitor into the reactor, with the duty command value fixed to a predetermined value.
