Abstract: A brake system may include: two hydraulic brake circuits, each having at least one wheel brake; a first pressure supply device for pressure build-up and release in at least one brake circuit via forward and return travel of a piston; a second pressure supply device with a continuous delivery, electromotively-driven piston pump, gear pump, or eccentric piston pump; at least one valve assembly with valves for adjusting pressure for each wheel brake and/or for connecting/disconnecting the wheel brakes and at least one of the pressure supply devices; at least one electronic control unit; a connection line connecting the two brake circuits; and at least one outlet valve for pressure release. The wheel brakes are paired with dedicated switch valves. Each brake circuit has a hydraulic main line to connect the switch valves to the first and second pressure supply devices, which provide different maximum pressures and/or delivery volumes.

Abstract: The invention relates to an actuating system for a vehicle brake, with an actuating arrangement, in particular a brake pedal, at least one (first) piston-cylinder unit, which is connected via a hydraulic line to the vehicle brake (braking circuit) in order to supply the braking circuit with pressure medium and apply pressure to the vehicle brake, and with a drive for the piston-cylinder unit. According to the invention, pressure medium can be fed to the braking circuit in controlled manner in both piston movement directions, in particular the advance stroke and the return stroke, by means of at least one, in particular stepped, piston (10) of the piston-cylinder unit (10, 10a, 10b).

The brake system may also include a hydraulic travel simulator with a pressure or working chamber which is connected to the first piston-cylinder unit.

The switching valves may include an electromagnetic drive and a force-adding device for operation of the valves.
