    Abstract: A transmitter for generating a radio frequency, RF, transmit signal is provided. The transmitter includes signal generation circuitry configured to generate, based on a sequence of first control words each indicating a respective frequency shift with respect to a target frequency of the RF transmit signal, a RF carrier signal with sequentially varying frequency over time in order to frequency spread the RF transmit signal. Further, the transmitter includes modulation circuitry configured to generate the RF transmit signal by modulating the RF carrier signal with a modulation control signal. The transmitter additionally includes modification circuitry configured to generate the modulation control signal by modifying, based on the sequence of first control words, phase information of a baseband signal bearing information to be transmitted or phase information of a signal derived from the baseband signal in order to frequency de-spread the RF transmit signal.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for determining customized frequency rotation values for a number of wireless channel configurations. The channel configurations may define various parameters of a wireless channel in accordance with a communication protocol, such as the channel bandwidth, the number of sub-channels, and which of the sub-channels may be punctured. The frequency rotation values may be obtained by determining the Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) values for different combinations of frequency rotation values that are applied to the sub-channels of the wireless channel on a per-configuration basis. Thus, for each configuration, the lowest maximum PAPR or other suitable threshold value may be used to identify the frequency rotation values for that particular configuration. The frequency rotation values may then be applied at run time based upon the current wireless channel configuration for data transmissions via the wireless channel.

    Abstract: A closed loop transmitter (Tx) calibration system is disclosed. The closed loop Tx calibration system comprises a transmitter circuit configured to generate a Tx output signal at a Tx output frequency based on a Tx local oscillator (LO) signal. The closed loop Tx calibration system further comprises a loop back (LPBK) receiver circuit coupled to the transmitter circuit and configured to downconvert the Tx output signal at the Tx output frequency to form an LPBK baseband signal at an LPBK intermediate frequency (IF), based on an LPBK LO signal. In some embodiments, the LPBK IF frequency is different from zero. In some embodiments, the closed loop Tx calibration system further comprises an LO generation circuit configured to generate the Tx LO signal and the LPBK LO signal from a single phase locked loop (PLL) source, based on utilizing a digital to time converter (DTC) circuit.

    Abstract: An apparatus include a baseband processor configured to receive digital samples of a first wireless local area network (WLAN) signal demodulated with a first phase locked loop (PLL). The baseband processor is configured to determine whether to switch from using the first PLL to demodulate the first WLAN signal to a second PLL to demodulate the first WLAN signal. The apparatus further includes a selection circuit coupled to the first PLL and the second PLL. The selection switch is configured to switch from the first PLL to the second PLL based on the determination. The baseband processor is configured to receive additional digital samples of the first WLAN signal demodulated with the second PLL.
