    摘要: An overload protection control circuit for marine engines, in which a propeller pitch control signal, as initiated by the operator and transmitted to a servo-positioner for setting the propeller pitch, is modified by a speed control signal, also initiated by the operator, for setting the speed of the ship through a speed governor device, so that the pitch of the propeller is automatically maintained at a degree compatible with the ship speed. According to the invention, an overload limiting valve device is interposed in the protection control circuit and is preset to respond to a critical engine load condition to effect operation of the servo-positioner to a neutral position in which propeller pitch is reduced to a safe degree.

    摘要: A manifold protective valve enclosure can have a bottom portion and a valve mounting subbase portion disposed on the bottom portion. A portion of the perimeter of the bottom portion can be surrounded by side walls which surround a valve which can be mounted on the subbase portion. A cover can be provided over the side walls to completely enclose and protect both the subbase and the valve. A portion of at least one side wall can form a side of the subbase, or integral conduit members can provide fluid communication between the side of the subbase and the side wall. The subbase can have the requisite ports configured to mate with the ports in the valve and can also have an override port configured to connect to an external device. The subbase can further include a receptacle for an electrical connector on the valve. The subbase can also include accessory devices such as mufflers, shut-off valves and flow controls. Passageways through the side walls can provide fluid communication between external connections and the subbase. Additionally, access holes through the side walls can provide access between an external electrical source and the receptacle on the valve subbase. The bottom portion can also have integral mounting portions configured to attach the manifold protective valve enclosure to a wall or other support surface.

    摘要: An electronic control module comprising an operational amplifier used as a comparator senses the difference between the throttle settings of a master and slave engine as detected by a potentiometer associated with each engine's throttle control apparatus in order to accordingly adjust the control signal of a fluid pressure actuator of the slave engine, which actuator in turn adjusts the slave engine throttle setting until it corresponds to that of the master engine, at which point the slave engine throttle actuator control signal is maintained constant by reason of the operational amplifier sensing such correspondence. The electronic control module thus makes it possible to match the slave engine throttle setting to the master engine throttle setting before the master engine speed responds to the adjusted throttle setting, as reflected by its speed governor, thereby assuring that the subsequent speed governor influence on the master engine throttle setting is not reflected in the slave engine throttle setting. Accordingly, each engine governor regulates the respective engine speed with changes in load such that when the engines are arranged to drive a common load, equal torque is exerted by each engine irrespective of different engine response characteristics.

    摘要: An electrical switch device manually operable, by a rotatable knob, to a plurality of definable positions for selectively effecting operation of an automotive transmission to a desired gear ratio. The knob and a housing, which includes the switch, may be mounted any place in the vehicle cab within convenient reach of the operator. The switch device is connected to an electronic logic system which monitors the condition of the transmission at all times to either energize or deenergize a lock-out solenoid, which controls a latch mechanism. Depending upon the condition of the transmission and, therefore, of the solenoid, a latch mechanism either permits or inhibits operation of the knob. An override mechanism permits the operator to release the latch mechanism to permit operation of the knob and the switch for shifting of the transmission, in an emergency situation, notwithstanding that the latch mechanism is in a locked position.

    摘要: A piston and geared rack assembly are moved by pressurized air in opposite directions within a power cylinder housing as the vehicle operator registers door closing and opening commands in a solenoid valve. This lateral movement is converted to rotary movement by a pinion gear driven by the rack and coupled to turn a spindle shaft which drives the door. At full stroke during door closing, the power piston actuates a valve to charge the lower chamber of an auxiliary cylinder to move a lift piston rod, movable within the spindle shaft, to raise the closed door into a locked position. Upon a door-open command, the solenoid valve exhausts the charged cylinder chambers, admits air into the upper chamber of the auxiliary cylinder to move the lift piston and rod to lower and release the door, and slowly charges the associated opening chamber. This enables the delayed movement of the power piston and rack assembly in the opposite direction, reversing the rotation of the pinion and spindle shaft, to open the door. If air pressure is lost with the door closed and locked, the weight of the door forces the lift piston and rod down, releasing the door from its locked position for emergency manual operation.
