摘要： Apparatus and a method for formatting executable codes and data, defining interactive applications, with video and audio program material, for reliable and convenient access includes compressing (18, 21) audio and video programs according to a protocol such as MPEG. The compressed audio and video (A/V) programs are segmented (19, 22) into transport packets, with audio transport packets identified by a first service identifier SCID.sub.Ai, and video transport packets identified by a second service identifier, SCID.sub.Vi. Interactive application programs associated with A/V programs are compiled (10) into functional modules and condensed. A module may be executable software or data. A module includes code/data and a header. The code/data portion of each module undergoes cyclic redundancy coding (CRC) over the entire module and CRC check bits are concatenated or appended to the module. Respective modules are segmented (14) into transport packets. The code/data transport packets are identified by a third service identifier SCID.sub.Di. The transport packets are formed into transmission units comprising an integer number of code/data transport packets and a header transport packet. A special directory module is generated (10) which interrelates the modules incorporated in an application program. Video packets, audio packets and module packets are subsequently time division multiplexed (16) for transmission.

摘要： A method and apparatus for generating an interactive component data stream, representing an application program, for an audio video interactive (AVI) composite signal, is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps. First, program files representing the application program are generated. Then, flow data defining the data structure of the interactive component is generated. Finally the data stream is generated by selectively inserting program files into the data stream in response to the flow data. Apparatus for generating such an interactive component data stream comprises a source of program files representing the application program and a source of flow data defining the data structure of the interactive component. A flow builder selectively inserts files from the source of files into the interactive component in response to data from the flow data source.

One of the cloud location and the set top box communicates the transcoded content to the user device.

The packing format places alternate rows of a checkerboard subsampled image row by row or places alternate columns of a checkerboard image line by line. By removing the shift and jagged edges, high frequency components that are difficult compress and display as annoying artifacts are eliminated.

摘要： A videoconferencing and data collaboration system is disclosed, wherein user systems exchange A/V data along with other computer data via conferencing devices over a packet network. The conferencing devices are configured to process and transmit A/V data to other devices participating in a conference. Each transmitting conferencing device uses DSP to encode A/V for transmission to the packet network. Once A/V data using the DSP is received, each receiving conferencing device decodes the A/V data and forwards it to a respective terminal for viewing via the digital link. The conferencing devices also share computer data and files over the digital network, where user modifications are tracked by transmitting short messages that indicate key depression or mouse movement.
