摘要： An apparatus for sensing the rotation of a brushless DC fan includes the fan and a sense/driver circuit and a capacitance. The sense/driver circuit is coupled to the fan to receive a sense input signal including a fluctuating electrical effect caused by fan commutation events. The sense/driver circuit processes the sense input signal to generate a sense output signal indicative of fan operation. The sense/driver circuit includes an integrated circuit. The integrated circuit includes a sense input pin, a ground return pin, a driver circuit, an integrated filter portion, a filter pin and a level detecting circuit. The capacitance is coupled to the filter pin to provide a filter with the integrated filter portion. The driver circuit includes a control terminal, a first current handling terminal coupled to the sense input pin and a second current handling terminal coupled to provide a ground return pat. The integrated filter portion includes a filter input coupled to at least one of the first and second current handling terminals of the driver circuit, and a filter output for providing a filter output signal to the level detecting circuit. The level detecting circuit generates the sense output signal from the filter output signal. The filter derives the filter output signal indicative of the fan commutation events responsive to receiving a signal at the sense input pin.

摘要： In the preferred embodiment, the outputs of a plurality of analog signal generators are connected to a single wire (the analog bus). Each analog signal generator is addressable by a unique code provided to its respective address input terminals. A host controller selectively addresses only one of the analog signal generators such that an output of only one of the analog signal generators is applied to the analog bus at a time. In this manner, a single wire may be used to transmit a plurality of analog signals to a receiver. In one embodiment, the receiver is a MUX having an output connected to an ADC.

摘要： A temperature-to-voltage converter includes a first circuit for developing a signal having a positive temperature coefficient and a second circuit for developing a signal having a voltage offset and a negative temperature coefficient. The converter also includes an adder circuit configured to subtract the negative-temperature-coefficient signal from the positive-temperature-coefficient signal. The resulting difference signal is a low voltage that exhibits linear temperature-to-voltage conversion, allowing the converter to be powered by a low operating voltage.

摘要： The present invention uses a reference voltage that varies within a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) cycle to generate the PWM signal. This allows for stability in the feedback of Constant On-Time (COT) control for buck controllers when low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) capacitors are used as the output capacitor. The reference voltage is adjusted using features of a PWM cycle in a voltage mode without using external inductor current information.

摘要： The present technique, in accordance with certain embodiments, provides a novel gearing assembly. The exemplary assembly includes a planetary or epicyclic gear set that provides the final gear reductions from the output shaft. Specifically, the use of a planetary gear set for final reduction transfers rotation and torque to four planet gears, for instance, which drive a carrier assemblies that, in turn, causes rotation of the output shaft. Advantageously, such an assembly can provide high torque-levels (e.g., 300,000 inch-pounds) via a relatively small-sized device.

摘要： A novel mechanical drive system is disclosed in which a high-speed motor is directly mounted to a gear reducer and drive at high speeds by a variable high speed drive. The high-speed motor has significantly reduced envelope dimensions and consequent mass due to its high-speed operating capabilities, without reducing the rated power of the drive system. The drive assembly can be mounted on a machine or as an overhung load with reduced stress on the machine frame or a driven shaft due to the lower mass and weight of the drive assembly, owing a large part to the reduced mass of the high-speed motor. The drive circuitry is designed to provide a sinusoidal input to the high-speed motor based upon a control input, which may include closed-loop control with parameters of the driven load or a process in which the load is part.

摘要： In accordance with one embodiment, a system and device are disclosed for preventing damage to one or more shims of a rotating machine. The system incorporates an anti-rotation spacing device that fits within a bearing bore or recess between the one or more shims and a bearing assembly. The anti-rotation spacing device prevents the rotation of the bearing assembly from damaging the one or more shims present within the recess. In an exemplary embodiment, the device comprises a generally annular structure or body and an anti-rotation feature. A method for protecting shims within a bearing bore and method of manufacturing an anti-rotation spacing device are also disclosed.
