    摘要: A pumped refrigerant cooling system for use in a row of equipment racks is configured to contain electronic equipment. The system includes a communication network and a refrigerant distribution unit in fluid communication with a chilled refrigerant supply and a heated refrigerant return. A cooling module is in fluid communication with the refrigerant distribution unit by a supply line and a return line. The cooling module is coupled to the communication network, and includes an evaporator and a fan configured to direct air over the evaporator. A sensor package is configured to monitor temperature and pressure reference points provided in the pumped refrigerant cooling system and the equipment racks. The system further includes a controller forming part of the cooling module and coupled to the communication network and the sensor package. The controller, based on information obtained from the sensor package, is configured to manipulate the flow of refrigerant through the evaporator by controlling the delivery of refrigerant to the evaporator and is configured to manipulate the flow of air over the evaporator by controlling the speed of the fan.

    摘要: A cooling system includes a condenser and first and second cooling circuits. The condenser is configured to condense refrigerant to a liquid. The first cooling circuit includes a direct expansion valve coupled to the condenser, a first evaporator coil coupled to the direct expansion valve, and a compressor coupled to the first evaporator coil. The first cooling circuit receives at least a first portion of the liquid refrigerant and output first refrigerant vapor, and the compressor receives the first refrigerant vapor and output a compressor refrigerant output to the condenser. The second cooling circuit includes a pump coupled to the condenser, an economizer valve coupled to the pump, and a second evaporator coil coupled to the economizer valve. The second cooling circuit receives at least a second portion of the liquid refrigerant and output a second vapor refrigerant to the condenser.

One embodiment of the invention provides a method for regulating working fluid flow in a vapor compression system including a compressor. The method includes: providing a controller; receiving signals at the controller representative of a monitored discharge pressure in a discharge line of the compressor; and using the controller to provide a control signal to an actuator that controls a flow control valve that, in turn, controls working fluid flow into the system, the control signal being responsive at least in part to a difference between a set point pressure and the monitored discharge pressure.

The plurality of cooling sub-system modules are configured to operate in parallel to achieve total cooling effect or a lesser cooling effect with some level of redundancy within the data center. Each cooling sub-system module includes a housing configured to support cooling equipment, an air-to-air heat exchanger supported by the housing to cool IT air generated by the data center, the air-to-air heat exchanger having at least one tube configured to direct IT from one end of the air-to-air heat exchanger to an opposite end of the air-to-air heat exchanger and configured so that outdoor air circulates around the at least one tube, and a mechanical cooling system supported by the housing. The mechanical cooling system is configured to receive IT air treated by the air-to-air heat exchanger and to provide further cooling to the treated IT air. Other embodiments of the cooling system and methods of cooling are further disclosed.
