    摘要: The invention concerns assays, such a immunoassays or two-site immunometric assays, performed using a labelled reagent and another reagent bound to magnetically attractable particles which are suspendable but insoluble in a liquid assay medium. After the labelled reagent has become partitioned between the liquid phase and the particles, in proportions which depend on the concentration of an analyte in a sample, the liquid phase is removed. Then the particles are re-suspended in another liquid medium, and the concentration of label observed. The method is particularly suitable for fluorescent and chemiluminescent' label systems, and can conveniently be performed in microtiter plates in which the wells are optically screened from one another, the observations being made from above or below the wells.

    摘要: A method of performing an assay for an analyte comprises providing a chromatographic medium, preferably in sheet form, forming a reaction mixture containing a labelled reagent present partly in a form which is mobile on the medium and partly in a form which is immobile, the proportions of the two forms being related to the analyte concentration, applying the mixture to a spot on the chromatographic medium, optionally applying a solvent to cause the mobile form of the labelled reagent to migrate from the spot, and measuring the label intensity remaining at the spot. The method provides a convenient way of performing immunoassays, 2-site immunometric assays, and agglutination assays.

    摘要: A multi-section blow molding machine for the manufacture of hollow glassware has in each section a parison mold for each pair of blow molds. The blow molds are disposed below and on opposite sides of the center of oscillation of a neck ring arm carrying rotatable neck rings and arranged so that the mold or molds on one side are open when those on the other side are closed. The molds and neck ring arm are interconnected to oscillate together in opposite directions between lockable positions 180.degree. apart. The parison mold and associated feed and plunger means are movable in and out of operative position below and above the neck ring arm respectively, and operate in timed relation thereto. The open blow molds are spray cooled during the blowing cycle as well as during oscillation of the neck ring arm between its locked positions. In the closed blow molds, the blowing is continued simultaneously with the spray cooling to further cool the molded articles prior to release to a take-out conveyor.

    摘要: In order to render harmless the aerosol laden smoke stream which results from the operation of medical lasers in or on mammalian bodies, the stream is moved in a closed circuit maintained at negative pressure. The circuit includes a container of sterilizing fluid to retain and destroy the larger aerosol particles and downstream of that container a chamber having an oxygen enriched atmosphere which is heated to a temperature sufficient to incinerate the remaining aerosol particles which are too small to filter. The thus purified stream is then cooled and released to ambient.

    摘要: A rotatable neck ring assembly for use primarily in an automatic blow molding machine includes an annular bushing and a concentrically arranged series of pivotally mounted foot members which in their closed position cooperate with the bushing to hold a parison during molding of the ware. The feet are spring-biased toward open position and cammed in to closed position when engaged by the upwardly moving parison mold. Cam surfaces on the outer surface of the feet cooperate with corresponding surfaces on a concentrically surrounding sleeve to hold the ring tightly closed on the rim of the parison even after lowering of the parison mold and throughout the blow molding portion of the cycle. The ring is opened following the molding and cooling portions of the cycle by hydraulic pressure acting on a piston which engages the upper surface of the bushing to force the feet to pivot outwardly.

    摘要: A plurality of transfer conveyors are arranged at right angles to and spaced along a main conveyor for transferring selected sheets from said main conveyor and either dropping them in a reject bin or stacking them in separate piles depending upon the size of the sheets. The transfer conveyors overlie the main conveyor and operate to pick up sheets from the main conveyor by Bernoulli's principle and permit them to slide by gravity to the reject bin while supported in non-contacting relation by the nozzles. The nozzles are selectively actuated in groups to achieve the pickup and reject functions. Sheets not rejected leave the lower end of the transfer conveyor and fly free to the stack receiver which is positioned in line with the conveyor and spaced outwardly therefrom.
