    摘要: A process for treating a molecular sieve-containing alkylation catalyst to increase its selectivity for monoalkylation in which the alkylation catalyst is contacted with a feedstock comprising at least one organic compound under conditions such that a sufficient amount of carbonaceous material evenly deposits on the alkylation catalyst to substantially suppress its alkylation activity. The carbon-containing catalyst particles are then subjected to combustion by contacting them with a gaseous oxidizing agent at an elevated temperature to remove at least a portion of the carbonaceous material, preferably substantially all of the carbonaceous material, thereby increasing the selectivity of the catalyst for monoalkylation by at least about 1.0 percentage point. The resulting alkylation catalyst an be used to alkylate benzene and other aromatic compounds with ethylene, propylene or other olefins to produce high yields of ethylbenzene, cumene and other alkylated products. Preferably, the alkylation catalyst contains an ammonium-exchanged and steam stabilized Y zeolite.

    摘要: A waxy hydrocarbon feedstock is converted into a product hydrocarbon of reduced normal paraffin content by either dewaxing or hydrodewaxing the feedstock in the presence a dewaxing or hydrodewaxing catalyst under conditions such that the normal paraffin content of the feedstock is reduced by selectively converting waxy paraffins into lower molecular weight hydrocarbons. At least a portion of the effluent from the dewaxing or hydrodewaxing zone is then passed to a hydrocracking zone where it is contacted with a hydrocracking catalyst in the presence of hydrogen under conditions such that a further reduction in the normal paraffin content is effected. When the desired product is a lube oil base stock, the overall conversion of components in the feed boiling above about 650.degree. F. to components boiling at or below about 650.degree. F. that takes palce in the dewaxing or hydrodewaxing step and the hydrocracking step combined is no more than about 20 volume percent, preferably no more than about 10 volume percent. When the desired product is a middle distillate, the overall conversion of feedstock constituents in the dewaxing or hydrodewaxing step and the hydrocracking step combined to components boiling below about 300.degree. F. is no more than about 25 volume percent, preferably no more than about 15 volume percent.

    摘要: Y Zeolites are prepared with rare earth cations and Group VIII metal cations exchanged thereinto, such zeolites being especially useful in hydrocracking catalysts. The zeolites of the invention are prepared by exchanging a sodium Y zeolite with cations of one or more rare earth elements followed by a calcination, an ammonium ion exchange, and a Group VIII metal cation exchange. The resultant zeolite is not only highly active for catalytically promoting hydrocracking reactions but is also, after use in hydrocracking environments resulting in coke deposition, essentially completely regenerable by combustion of the coke.
