    Abstract: A controller for multiple groups of equipment detects a staging event for a first group of equipment and determines when the staging event occurs. The controller determines whether a predetermined time period has elapsed since the staging event for the first group of equipment has occurred and prevents a second group of equipment from staging in response to a determination that the predetermined time period has not elapsed since the staging event for the first group of equipment has occurred. Preventing the second group of equipment from staging reduces peak energy consumption during the predetermined time period and reduces a demand charge based on the peak energy consumption.

    Abstract: A central plant includes at least a first subplant and a second subplant configured to serve a thermal energy load of a building. A controller for the central plant includes an equipment staging detector configured to detect a staging event for equipment of the second subplant and to determine when the staging event occurs. The controller includes a subplant staging evaluator configured to use input from the equipment staging detector to determine whether a predetermined time period has elapsed since the staging event for the equipment of the second subplant has occurred. The controller includes a subplant staging preventer configured to prevent the first subplant from staging equipment of the first subplant in response to a determination that the predetermined time period has not elapsed since the staging event for the equipment of the second subplant has occurred.

The processing circuit is configured to receive user edits of the context via the building model interface, wherein the user edits include edits to the building elements, generate an updated context based on the user edits of the context, and deploy the updated context to control environmental conditions of the building with the building equipment based on the updated context.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing an economic model predictive control (EMPC) strategy in any resource-based system include an EMPC tool. The EMPC tool is configured to present user interfaces to a client device. The EMPC tool is further configured to receive first user input including resources and subplants associated with a central plant. The EMPC tool is also configured to receive second user input including sinks and connections between central plant equipment. The EMPC tool also includes a data model extender configured to extend a data model to define new entities and/or relationships specified by user input. The EMPC tool also includes a high level EMPC algorithm configured to generate an optimization problem and an asset allocator configured to solve the resource optimization problem in order to determine optimal control decisions used to operate the central plant.

    Abstract: A controller for heating, ventilation, or air conditioning (HVAC) equipment includes a communications interface configured to communicate with first HVAC equipment and second HVAC equipment and a processing circuit communicably coupled to the communications interface. The processing circuit is configured to detect a staging event for the first HVAC equipment occurring at a first time, obtain a delay time based on an estimated amount of time required to reach steady state after the staging event for the first HVAC equipment occurs at the first time, determine whether the delay time has elapsed since the staging event for the first HVAC equipment has occurred, and prevent the second HVAC equipment from staging in response to a determination that the delay time has not elapsed since the staging event for the first HVAC equipment has occurred.
