摘要: An electric circuit breaker for interrupting an electric circuit of a vehicle includes a circuit break section having an explosive used for exploding a part of an electric circuit by explosion, a detonating device for exploding the explosive by application of electric power to the explosive, a collision detection device for detecting a collision of the vehicle and, a controller which explodes the explosive by supply of an electric current for detonating purposes to the detonating device in response to a detection signal from the collision detection device. The circuit breaker further includes a housing having a cylindrical member, such as an inner cylindrical portion, and a cover for covering the opening of the inner cylindrical portion. Connector terminals are formed on both ends of the conductor and a horizontal target section to be broken is formed in the middle of the conductor. The horizontal target area is disposed in front of the opening of the cylindrical member and the connector terminals are led to the outside of the housing. The explosive and a filament serving as means for heating the explosive are provided in the cylindrical member. The blasting force of the explosive that causes explosion by heating acts on the horizontal target area in a concentrated manner.

摘要: A waterproof cable having a plurality of conductive strands which are twisted together to form a wire core which is surrounded by an insulation layer. A water-absorptive swellable powder is applied to the individual strands prior to twisting and thereby is introduced into the interstices between adjacent strands. If water attempts to enter the spaces between the strands, it is absorbed by the powder which swells to occupy all the space and thereby seals the cable against further water penetration. The cable is produced by application (e.g. by spraying) of a solution of the powder in a solvent to the individual strands. Thereafter, the solvent is evaporated, leaving the powder adhered to the strand surfaces. In a preferred form of the Invention, regions containing the powder are longitudinally spaced apart from adjacent regions having no powder therein. In a more preferred form of the Invention, the powder is removed from the outer surface of the wire core prior to coating with insulation. This facilitates stripping of the insulation layer when and where needed.

摘要: A board fuse includes an insulating board having a through-hole window in the middle of the insulating board and fusible elements laid over the insulating board. Further, the fusible elements are continuous metal wires substantially equal in cross section. The fusible elements are uniform and accurate in cross section and accurate in current capacity. The fusible elements extend across the window in such a manner that, at the window, they are not in contact with the insulating board. Hence, when heat is generated in any one of the fusible elements by electric current, the heat generated at the window is not absorbed by the insulating board and is increased as required, thus blowing the fusible element accurately. Accordingly, the board fuse is free from the difficulties caused by the heat generation, that is, the production of a bad smell, at worst the production of white smoke.

摘要: A fuse combination in which a group of fused elements are placed on an insulative support. The support is bent into a U-shape carrying the fuse elements with it. Contacts at the ends of the fuse elements extend beyond the corresponding edges of the support and are adapted to be inserted into a socket. To make the combination, the fuse elements are stamped out of a metal plate which has a thin central section. This thin section becomes the fusible portions of the fuse elements. A band at either end of the fuse elements connects them so that they can be handled as a unit. They are then placed on the support, secured thereto, and a preferably transparent cover is placed over the fusible portions.

摘要: The invention is designed to improve a radiation effect of a junction box so as to eliminate a limit in a current to be applied to busbars. A filler 15 of epoxy resin is injected into the interior of coupled lower and upper casings 1 and 3 through injection holes formed in suitable positions of the casings 1 and 3 so as to fill the interior with the filler 15. Since air layers within the coupled casings 1 and 3 can be eliminated by the filler 15, heat generated due to application of a current to busbars 11 can be efficiently radiated via the filler 15 and the casings 1 and 3, thereby improving a radiation effect within the junction box. Therefore, it is not necessary to limit a current applied to the busbars, and a relatively large current can be applied to the busbars.

摘要: A circuit protecting device for an automotive wiring harness designed to make the dimensions of wires downstream from fuses smaller and minimize the number of circuits which will be brought into an inoperative state upon blowout of a fuse resulting from a short circuit which occurs in a wire by supplying protecting circuits for supplying power from a power source to loads with fuses provided in the circuits connected in one-to-one relationship with the loads so that, upon blowout of one fuse, only a power supply to the load connected with this fuse is cut off. The fuses are formed by a flat fuse 20 including a plurality of conductive fusible elements 21 arranged at specified intervals on the surface of an insulating plate 22.

摘要: An insulation plate (20) is provided with a window or a slot (21). A fusible element or circuit (31) with reinforced portion (22) is laid on a surface of the insulation plate (20) across the window (21). When the circuit (31) is heated by current-conduction, a fusible path (33) of the circuit (31) spanned in air across the window (21) melts at a predetermined current level, since heat generated in the fusible path (31) is not absorbed in the insulation plate (20). It is possible to transform the plate fuse depending on the conditions of use, and its configuration is substantially flexible.
