Abstract: A pleated filter structure is provided for the removal of gaseous pollutants from a gas mixture to be filtered. The structure comprises an ideally air impervious filter sheet, being pleated so as to form an adjacent series of slit shaped conduits for the passage of air through the structure, each bounded on either side by the folded sections of the filter sheet, these being joined by a series of top creases and bottom creases. The top and/or bottom creases incorporate slit-shaped openings allowing passage of a gas mixture into and/or out of the structure. Gas to be filtered enters through one side of the structure, passes laterally across the filter sheet section surfaces and exits through the other side. Also provided are methods for the manufacture of a pleated filter structure, comprising forming rows of slit-shaped openings in a filter sheet and providing folds, in alternating directions, along the lengthwise extensions of adjacent rows of openings. Methods for filtering a gas are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed is an air purification system (10) comprising an air purifier apparatus (50) for removing a pollutant from air, a sensor (21, 23) for sensing a concentration of the air pollutant and a scent release apparatus (40) responsive to a scent release signal, wherein the air purification system further comprises a processor (31) adapted to monitor the pollutant concentration from sensor data received from the sensor and to generate the scent release signal upon the monitored pollutant concentration falling below a defined threshold. Also disclosed is a method of generating a scented atmosphere in a room housing an air purification apparatus (50) for removing a pollutant from the air in the room.

Abstract: A sleep monitoring system (10) for monitoring the sleep of a subject is disclosed. The system comprises a CO2 sensor (21) and a processor (31) communicatively coupled to the CO2 sensor, wherein the processor is adapted to monitor a CO2 concentration from sensor data produced by the CO2 sensor; and derive sleep pattern information from the monitored CO2 concentration, wherein the sleep pattern information comprises at least an indication that the subject is awake and an indication that the subject is asleep. A sleep monitoring method and computer program product are also disclosed.

An air movement device (120; 121, 122) configured to move air from the directional inlet to the major vent in a first configuration and to move air from the major vent to the directional outlet through the at least one pollutant removal structure in a second configuration responsive to a controller (150) is also present, as well as a sensor (140) arranged to determine a concentration of the pollutant in the air in said region when the air movement device is in the first orientation, wherein the controller is responsive to the sensor and is adapted to switch the air movement device from the first configuration to the second configuration upon the concentration of the pollutant exceeding a defined pollutant concentration threshold.
