    摘要: Curable, one-package, stable adhesive compositions are provided comprising: (a) a resin component comprising a polyepoxide, (b) a polyamine having at least two primary amine, secondary amine, and/or ketimine functional groups; and (c) a curing component comprising dicyandiamide and an accelerator. At least a portion of the polyepoxide in the resin component is reacted with carboxy-terminated butadiene acrylonitrile polymer. The accelerator comprises a reaction product comprising a renewable polyol, a diisocyanate, and a dialkyl monoamine containing alkyl groups with at least two carbon atoms each. The compositions are suitable for use as adhesive compositions over a wide temperature range.

    摘要: The present invention provides a process for forming a waterborne composite polyurethane/acrylic polymer dispersion without the use of N-methyl pyrrolidone. The process includes polymerizing a reaction mixture of polyisocyanate, polyol, and a hydroxyl and carboxylic acid functional reactant in an organic solvent medium of alkyl carbonate, then adding ethylenically unsaturated monomers and inverting the mixture into an aqueous medium. Addition polymerization is performed to yield a waterborne composite polyurethane/acrylic polymer dispersion, and any remaining alkyl carbonate is hydrolyzed. The resulting aqueous polymer dispersions are environmentally friendly and are suitable for use in coating compositions that conventionally contained similar dispersions prepared in the presence of N-methyl pyrrolidone. Comparable physical properties are observed.

    摘要: A water reducible polyurethane resin for use in coating compositions is provided with humidity resistance at relatively low cost by employing a urethane prepolymer which is the reaction product of (i) a polyisocyanate, (ii) a polyhydroxy compound which is the reaction product of an organic acid and an epoxy compound, at least one of which includes a hydrocarbon group of at least six carbon atoms, and (iii) a monomer having an anionic group and functionality reactive with isocyanate. Preferred embodiments employ C.sub.36 dimer diacid and the propylene oxide ester of neodecanoic acid to make the polyhydroxy compound.
