An object is to simplify the structure of electric wirings, and to facilitate installation. A vehicular motion quantity sensor and a steering angle sensor are installed in the same casing or mechanically connected directly with the casing. Therefore, it is possible to put together electrical wiring harnesses for transmitting the detection signals from the vehicular motion quantity sensor and the steering angle sensor to an ECU. Moreover, since all of the sensors can be located in the same compartment, the structure of the electrical wiring harnesses can be simplified and can be installed more easily.

A brake fluid pressure controlling device is provided that controls a brake actuator to adjust brake fluid pressure in a wheel cylinder provided to correspond to a wheel. The brake actuator includes a passage for supplying the brake fluid to the wheel cylinder, a pump that discharges the brake fluid to the passage, and an electromagnetic valve that is located in the passage and adjusts the pressure of the brake fluid flowing into the wheel cylinder. The device includes a discharge rate detecting section, a signal generating section, a noise generating section, a noise overlaying section, and an electromagnetic valve controlling section. The discharge rate detecting section detects the discharge rate of the brake fluid discharged by the pump. The signal generating section generates a command signal for controlling the electromagnetic valve. The noise generating section generates noise, the noise being an AC signal corresponding to the detected discharge rate. The noise overlaying section overlays the noise onto the command signal, thereby generating an overlaid command signal. The electromagnetic valve controlling section controls the electromagnetic valve according to the overlaid command signal.

Wheel speed sensors are provided for detecting wheel speeds of a front wheel and a rear wheel. A wheel speed difference is calculated between the wheel speed of the front wheel and the wheel speed of the rear wheel detected by the wheel speed sensors. A braking operation detection device is provided for detecting an operation of a brake pedal. Based upon the calculated wheel speed difference and the operation of the brake pedal detected by the braking operation detection device, it is determined whether the brake pedal was rapidly depressed. In accordance with this result, and in response to the wheel speeds detected by the wheel speed sensors, the braking force applied to the front wheel can be adjusted in a predetermined relationship with the braking force applied to the rear wheel.

A second passage is provided for communicating the master cylinder with an inlet of an auxiliary pressure source, which introduces the brake fluid from the wheel cylinders, and discharges the pressurized brake fluid to the wheel cylinders through the pressure control devices. A valve device is disposed in the first passage and connected to the second passage to selectively place one of a first operating position for communicating the master cylinder with the pressure control devices and blocking the communication between the master cylinder and the inlet of the auxiliary pressure source, and a second operating position for communicating the master cylinder with the inlet of the auxiliary pressure source and blocking the communication between the master cylinder and the pressure control devices. At least an auxiliary passage is provided for communicating the master cylinder with at least one of the wheel cylinders. And, at least a switching valve is disposed in the auxiliary passage to open and close the auxiliary passage.
