    摘要: A process for producing a plyphenylene oxide is disclosed, comprising oxidative polymerization of a nucleus-substituted phenol with an oxygen-containing gas in an organic solvent in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a manganese compound containing at least one divalent manganese salt, at least one basic compound selected from hydroxides, alkoxides or phenoxides of the group IA metals of the Periodic Table and hydroxides or oxides of the group IIA metals of the Periodic Table, an alkanolamine represented by formula (I)R.sup.1 --NH--R.sup.2 --OH (I)wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or a hydroxyl-substituted alkyl group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and R.sup.2 represents an alkylene group having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, and an amine represented by formula (II)R.sup.3 R.sup.4 NH (II)wherein R.sup.3 and R.sup.3 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having from 7 to 24 carbon atoms, with proviso that R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 do not simultaneously represent a hydrogen atom, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may be taken together to form a ring. The polyphenylene oxide produced has improved planar impact characteristics without failure in other properties and is, therefore, suitable as a starting material for the production of polyphenylene oxide-based polymer alloy.

    摘要: Polyphenylene ethers are produced by oxidative polymerization of phenols in the presence of a catalyst comprising the combination of divalent manganese salts, an oxine or derivatives thereof, an alkanolamine, and an alkaline compound. This catalyst has an increased polymerization activity and achieves a higher productivity. In addition, the catalyst enables the polymerization to conduct at relatively high temperatures.

    摘要: Polymers consisting essentially of the units (A) and (B) with an intrinsic viscosity in the range of 0.3 to 4.0, a content of the unit (A) of 10 to 90 mol % of the total structural units and a content of double bonds of trans-configuration of 40% or more are disclosed. The units (A) and (B) are represented by the structural formulas: ##STR1## wherein R' is hydrogen atom, an alkyl or phenyl, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or an alkyl, R.sup.3 is an alkyl. The polymers are preferably prepared by partial hydrolysis of the polymers consisting essentially of the unit (B).
