This invention provides a waterproof and moisture-permeable fabric which prevents to lower in a water pressure resistance, repetitively washed. The waterproof and moisture-permeable fabric consists of a body of a fabric and a microporous film of mainly polyurethane which is laid on the body. The microporous film contains 1 to 9 mass % of fluorinated water repellent agent, 0.1 to 2 mass % of oil-soluble fluorinated surfactant and if necessary 3 to 45 mass % of fine silica powders. The waterproof and moisture-permeable fabric is obtained by the following method. After coating a resin compound on the surface of the body, the resin compound is dipped in a coagulating bath to form the microporous film. The resin compound dissolves or disperses mainly polyurethane, 1 to 9 mass % of fluorinated water repellent agent, 0.1 to 2 mass % of oil-soluble fluorinated surfactant and if necessary 3 to 45 mass % of fine silica powders in N,N-dimethylformamide. The coagulating bath is an aqueous solution containing less than 30 mass % of N,N-dimethylformamide.

This invention provides a fabric having a foamed layer. The fabric is obtained by the foaming method which prevents to expand heat expansible micro capsules in a cross-linked resin. A foamed layer is laminated on the fabric material. The foamed layer is comprising of heat expanded micro capsules, a synthetic resin holding the capsules on the fabric material, silica fine powders which are hydrophilic and fine porous. The fabric is obtained by the following method. A synthetic resin solution comprising of heat expansible micro capsules and the silica fine powders is prepared. The solution is applied on the fabric material at all surface or pattered surface. The synthetic resin layer is formed after drying. After that, the heat expansible micro capsules are expanded by heating.

In one embodiment of the present invention, when a still image is displayed, applied voltages respectively corresponding to a total of n (n being an integer of not less than 4) types of gradation 0 to (n−1) are outputted to pixels. When a moving image is displayed, an applied voltage corresponding to a predetermined gradation m (1≦m≦(n−2)) is applied to the pixels instead of applied voltages respectively corresponding to gradations of less than the predetermined gradation m. Overdrive driving is performed with respect to a total of n types of gradation.

In one embodiment of the present application, an area control section receives a command specifying a video image display area or a dynamic image display area in the image data. The area control section stores a data of a previous frame screen in the frame memory only for the part which an overdrive is performed, based on the command. A control section outputs a received image data to a source drive section as it is for the image data being notified as a still image display area. For the image data being notified as a video image display area, the image data is converted based on a data stored in a Look-up Table, and performs the display which improves the response speed of the liquid crystal.

The present invention is so arranged as to include (a) gradation reference potential generating means including a group of output terminals whose voltages are determined in accordance with a voltage division ratio of one ladder resistor, so as to output gradation reference potentials, for example, of 1024, which is a 16 multiple of a required 64-gradations; (b) output terminal designating means including a memory for designating, among from the output terminals, an output terminal for each of the 64-gradations required, in accordance with the display modes; and (c) selecting means for selecting an output terminal that corresponds to an input gradation signal, among from the output terminals designated by the output terminal designating section, and for applying a voltage via the thus selected output terminal to a display screen. With this arrangement, it is possible to attain very similar gradient signal-brightness characteristics for respective display modes with high accuracy, in order to prevent a gradient display from being changed due to switchover of the display modes.

First to fourth lenses are aligned in an optical axis direction by a lens-barrel of a camera, an O-ring is disposed between the first lens and the lens-barrel, an O-ring is disposed between the fourth lens and the lens-barrel, a space is formed between the first and second lenses, a space is formed between the second and fourth lenses, a space is formed between the third and fourth lenses, and flow of air between the spaces is precluded. The camera thus configured is free of dewing on the lens or a protective plate exposed to the exterior, even when the inside temperature is raised due to heat generation in a CCD or a mounting substrate on which the CCD is mounted.

A method and an apparatus for monitoring the noise figure of an optical amplifier such as used in linear repeaters in an optical transmission system formed by cascaded linear repeaters. The apparatus includes at least one optical amplifier for amplifying input signal light and a narrow bandwidth optical filter for removing amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) light generated at the optical amplifier. A gain detector is provided to detect the gain of the optical amplifier and an ASE optical power detector detects an optical power of the ASE light generated at the optical amplifier. The apparatus includes a splitter for splitting light entering into the narrow bandwidth optical filter and a local oscillator for generating local light having a wavelength displaced from a wavelength of the input signal light. The light split by the splitter is coupled with the local light generated by the local oscillator. An optical power detector makes a heterodyne detection of the optical power of the coupled light. An electrical band-pass filter extracts the optical power of the ASE light generated by the optical amplifier from the optical power obtained by the optical power detector. A noise figure calculator calculates the noise figure according to the gain detected by the gain detector and the optical power of the ASE light detected by the ASE optical power detector.

An optical amplifier using either rare-earth doped optical fiber, which can amplify an optical signal when a pumping light is injected, or a laser diode amplifier, which can amplify an optical signal by injection of an electric current. The amplifiers being of simple construction and having a gain which can be maintained constant through feedback control based on the detection of spontaneous emission from the sides of either the rare-earth doped optical fiber or the laser diode. The control being performed without the need for detection of input or output optical signal of the optical amplifier.

A pair of chromium masks of similar pattern are optically read out to generate video signals corresponding to the patterns thereon. Comparison of the pair of masks is carried out in binary signals converted from the video signals using different recognition thresholds, thereby discriminating defects in the masks. Defect information is recorded in a recording medium and used for identifying and positioning the defects in the correction process.

A drive circuit of a liquid crystal display device performs line inversion drive based on a correction video signal V. A look-up table (12) includes two types of tables having stored therein correction values for use in overshoot drive. Based on a current-frame video signal X, a previous-frame video signal Y stored in a frame memory (11), and a polarity-reversing signal REV, a correction process portion (13) reads a correction value from the look-up table (12), and outputs the correction value being read as the correction video signal V. In such a manner, a correcting circuit (10) is used to control the degree of overshoot in accordance with the polarity-reversing signal REV. Thus, it is possible to suitably control the change in pixel brightness regardless of the polarity of the applied voltage, thereby preventing any fringes from being generated while displaying moving images.
