Abstract: The present invention relates to a super-absorbent polymer having excellent properties, both centrifugal retention capacity (CRC) and absorption under pressure (AUP) having been improved by introducing a surface crosslinked layer crosslinked by surface-modified inorganic particles, and to a method for preparing the same. The super-absorbent polymer comprises: a base resin powder containing a crosslinked polymer of water-soluble ethylene-based unsaturated monomers having an at least partially neutralized acidic group; and a surface crosslinked layer formed on the base resin powder, wherein inorganic particles may be chemically bound to the crosslinked polymer contained in the surface crosslinked layer, via an oxygen-containing bond or a nitrogen-containing bond.

The super absorbent polymer may comprise a base polymer powder including a cross-linked polymer of a monomer containing a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated compound or its salt; and a surface cross-linked layer that is formed on the base polymer powder and is further cross-linked from the cross-linked polymer, wherein a glass hollow particle having a micron-scale particle size is included in the cross-linked structure of the cross-linked polymer of the base polymer powder.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing superabsorbent polymer. According to the preparation method of the present invention, by maintaining the hydrophilicity of superabsorbent polymer and appropriately controlling the crosslinking density, superabsorbent polymer with excellent properties can be prepared though homogeneous surface crosslinking. Thus, superabsorbent polymer with improved absorption speed can be provided without decrease in absorbency under load.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a super absorbent polymer. The method for preparing a super absorbent polymer according to the present invention comprises the steps of: carrying out a thermal polymerization or a photopolymerization of a monomer composition including a water-soluble ethylene-based unsaturated monomer and a polymerization initiator to form a hydrogel polymer; drying the hydrogel polymer; pulverizing the dried polymer; mixing a fine powder having a particle diameter of 180 μm or less and a polymer having a particle diameter of 300 μm or more among the pulverized polymer; and adding steam to the mixture to carry out a reassembling. According to the present invention, the super absorbent polymer having a high fine powder aggregation strength can be obtained.
