Abstract:
An equine gastric ulcer therapy composition comprises a pre-packaged, dry feed supplement comprising effective amounts of chamomile tea and an effective amount of slippery elm with effective amounts of apples and a natural sweetener. An alternative composition comprises a pour-able aqueous solution of an effective amount of chamomile tea and an effective amount of slippery elm, wherein the solution has a viscosity of at least 100 cP at about 20° C., or about 80 cSt at about 25° C. A method of treating equine ulcers comprises a regime of Omeprazole for an initial treatment period followed by treatment with the described nutraceutical equine gastric ulcer therapy composition.
Abstract:
The present invention provides immunogenic and pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment and prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers and in particular, cervical cancer. In particular, this invention relates to fusion proteins, and the nucleic acids encoding these fusion proteins, used to generate immune responses against HPV. Specifically, this invention provides for fusions of HPV E6 and E7 in which the E6 and/or E7 contains one or more mutations. These mutations abrogate the transformation activity of these oncogenic proteins and, thus, confer safety to the E6/E7 fusions. In addition, these fusions maintain or increase the immunogenic efficacy of E6 and E7. Any gene or protein delivery method can be used to deliver or package the immunogenic compositions of the present invention.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for optical scanning, in one configuration, including a torsional dither mechanism having a torsion rod formed of integral construction machined from a single metal piece, magnet and mirror mount attached to the free end of the torsion rod, and electromagnetic drive. The drive comprises a magnet mounted to the magnet mount and a drive coil. Torque is generated on the dither arm as oscillating current is applied to the coil, to preferably drive the torsion rod at a high oscillation speed on the order of 5 KHz. Acoustic noise control is provided by using a combination of elastomeric isolation mounts, a thick wall enclosure and lid for the dither, an electrically resonant dither drive, and mechanically resonant drive control using back EMF from a moving magnet to set the frequency of oscillation of the dither drive.
Abstract:
Methods and systems form a decodable composite image of an optical code that experiences motion. A method according to one embodiment forms a first image of at least a first portion of the optical code at a first time and a second image of at least a second portion of the optical code at a second time, whereby the optical code may undergo relative motion between the first and second times. The method determines one or more of the following parameters of an affine transformation relating the second image to the first image: vertical offset, horizontal offset, horizontal skew factor, vertical skew factor, horizontal scale factor, and vertical scale factor. The method aligns one of the first and second images to the other by utilizing the determined parameters to implement the affine transformation, thereby forming an aligned image. Finally, the method combines elements of the aligned imaged and the other image to form the decodable composite image of the optical code.
Abstract:
Methods of formulating enzyme cocktails based on the presence of enzyme-hydrolysable components in a target stain and/or soil. More specifically, the formulation of an enzyme cocktail comprising a specific enzyme for each component in a target stain and/or soil, optionally wherein each enzyme is incorporated at a level corresponding to the level of an enzyme-hydrolysable component in said target stain and/or soil. Further, enzyme cocktails for removing egg-based and grass-based stains, optionally formulated in accordance with the methods disclosed herein. Moreover, compositions and products comprising the enzyme cocktails disclosed herein and methods of using same.
Abstract:
A system and method for distributing power to an integrated circuit. In one embodiment, a power laminate may be mounted to a printed circuit board (PCB). The integrated circuit for which power is to be distributed may be electrically coupled to the PCB. The power laminate may include one or more power planes and one or more reference (i.e. ground) planes, with each pair of power/reference planes separated by a dielectric layer. The power laminate may also include a connector or other means for receiving power from an external power source. The power laminate may be electrically coupled to the integrated circuit, thereby enabling it to provide power to the integrated circuit. The power laminate may also include a voltage regulator circuit, and a plurality of decoupling capacitors.
Abstract:
An aeroponic root system comprises a plant cell having a first root chamber coupled to a second root chamber. A perforated divider may be disposed between the first root chamber and the second root chamber. In some examples, a fluid delivery system may convey water, nutrients, oxygen (e.g., purified oxygen gas), and/or carbon dioxide to the plant according to corresponding delivery schedules. For instance, water and oxygen may be conveyed into the first and second root chambers via a main supply line. Carbon dioxide may be conveyed to a base of the plant via a carbon dioxide delivery ring. In some instances, the delivery schedules may be determined by a type of the plant and/or a growth stage of the plant.
Abstract:
An electronic sign includes a planar lighting module emitting visible light. A cabinet supportingly engages the lighting module. An air chamber is between the cabinet and the lighting module. A vertical partition is within the air chamber and extends between a bottom wall and a top wall of the cabinet, and between the lighting module and a rear wall of the cabinet. The partition divides the air chamber into first and second sections. An electric fan is within the cabinet and transfers air from the first to the second section. The cabinet and/or the lighting module include a plurality of throughholes fluidly interconnecting the air chamber to ambient air. A first subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the first section than to the second section. A second subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the second section than to the first section.
