摘要: A high-flow rate, low-noise, gas sampling apparatus for collecting particulate such as biological, chemical, and radioactive material from a gas on a collector such as an impaction collector includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet and a fan disposed within the housing for drawing the gas into the inlet, past the collector for sampling, and exhausting the gas through the outlet. The fan is operable to produce a flow of gas through the housing of greater than about 50 liters per minute with a noise level emitted from the apparatus being less than about 60 decibels. The apparatus may be configured as a compact, unobtrusive, portable, lightweight apparatus for use in various indoor or outdoor locations. The apparatus may also include a sensor for the detection of radioactive material collected on the collector, a processor for monitoring the sampling, and the apparatus may be linked to a communications network such as the Internet. Methods for collecting particulate from a gas are also enclosed.

摘要: A sampling cartridge for a gas sampling apparatus includes a shell having a cylindrical wall and a sampling window extending through the wall. A pair of spools are coaxially and internally positioned within the shell. The spools are independently rotatable relative to the shell. A first spool may include multiple interval sample collectors while the second spool includes a duration sample collector. Each spool also has a window closing surface which is positioned adjacent the window whenever an access door of the gas sampling apparatus is opened. The sampling cartridge may also include a fully encapsulated section of sample collector material as a negative control, and an integral RF tag for storing chain of custody information including personal identification information of a cartridge replenisher.

摘要: A method and system for controlling the temperature in a furnace such as a continuous feed controlled atmosphere furnace includes an upstream thermocouple in a first area of the furnace, a second thermocouple in a second area of the furnace, and a heater control system. A sensed temperature from the upstream thermocouple is used to generate a control signal for a heater associated with the first area of the furnace. The sensed temperature from the first area of the furnace is further used to modify a set point that is compared to a sensed temperature from the second thermocouple. A control signal for a heater associated with the second area of the furnace is generated based upon the comparison of the modified set point to the sensed temperature from the second thermocouple.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for automatically and adaptively configuring a system for a user. User data that includes information representative of temporal and contextual user preferences, behaviors, habits, biases, idiosyncrasies, and tendencies associated with system settings and configurations are loaded into the system. The system is then configured based on the user data. User-initiated operations of the system are continuously monitored to model user performance. The user data are continuously updated based on the modeled user performance, and the system is continuously and automatically reconfigured based on the updated user data.

摘要: The present invention relates most specifically to a hand-exercising device that, in fact, is a glove. Unlike any “field” apparatus that has come before, it is not worn as an extension to a hand or worn on the top of a hand or strapped or worn on a glove; it is the glove. This allows the flexibility of either the entire hand or any individual digit in a natural movement through a full range of motion thereby exercising the hand and digits in the most prosperous, utilitarian method for full potential of strength improvement humanly possible. This unparalleled achievement is accomplished via strategically integrated slender, pliable, flexible, non-breakable, aluminum and/or aluminum and PVC combination “spring-stays” (as in “to stiffen”) sheathed within the heavy corrugated/striated material of the “apparatus-glove”. In addition, there is a “complete glove itself” model which is, in its entirety, made of one eighth to one sixteenth inch width/depth flexible, spring-aluminum and/or PVC and/or combination alloy-metal then covered and/or integrated within a full material covering which is skin/hand compatible. A fixed and/or resting glove/hand setting results in maximum resistance to both opening and closing movements. Areas for high potential usage pertaining specifically to all sports (football, basketball, golf, soccer, tennis, track & field, baseball, volley ball, et. al.), as well as capacities for therapeutic inclination within the medical, industrial, and business worlds are virtually without boundaries.

摘要: An arrangement of sewing successive edges of material which extend in two directions. The arrangement comprises a stationary sewing table having a prescribed sewing area. The sewing table supports a carriage. A sewing machine is supported by the carriage. Drives are provided for the carriage and the sewing machine and are operative to move the carriage selectively in the X and Y directions while operating the sewing machine to sew. A material feeding assembly having an independent drive is provided to feed material into the sewing area and to maintain the fed material in the sewing area in a flat fixed position for a prescribed period of time. A control operates to actuate the feeding assembly to position the material, to actuate the sewing machine to sew and to actuate the carriage carrying the sewing machine to move in the X and Y directions about the sewing area forming automatically a folded fabric having all edges stitched.
