Abstract: A driver assist system suitable for use in a vehicle includes a plurality of vehicular cameras disposed at the vehicle and a plurality of non-video sensors disposed at the vehicle. The cameras capture image data and at least one non-video sensor captures sensor data. A video processor module receives image data captured by the cameras and receives sensor data captured by the at least one non-video sensor. The received image data is fused with received sensor data at the video processor module. The video processor module communicates with other vehicle systems via a vehicle bus of the vehicle. Received image data is processed at the video processor module to generate a synthesized image, which is displayed by a display screen. Responsive at least in part to fusing of image data and sensor data at the video processor module, a driver assistance system of the equipped vehicle is controlled.

Abstract: A forward-facing vision system for a vehicle includes a forward-facing camera disposed in a windshield electronics module attached at a windshield of the vehicle and viewing through the windshield. A control includes a processor that, responsive to processing of captured image data, detects taillights of leading vehicles during nighttime conditions and, responsive to processing of captured image data, detects lane markers on a road being traveled by the vehicle. The control, responsive to lane marker detection and a determination that the vehicle is drifting out of a traffic lane, may control a steering system of the vehicle to mitigate such drifting, with the steering system manually controllable by a driver of the vehicle irrespective of control by the control. The processor, based at least in part on detection of lane markers via processing of captured image data, determines curvature of the road being traveled by the vehicle.

Abstract: A video processor module for a vehicle includes a plurality of video interfaces, each configured for wired connection to a respective camera of a plurality of cameras. The video processor module receives and processes image data provided by the cameras. The plurality of interfaces include interfaces for wired connection to the cameras and for receiving image data from the cameras. The video processor module communicates with other vehicle systems via a vehicle bus. The video processor module may electronically reduce distortion in captured image data. The video processor module may merge captured image data to provide a panoramic view image that is output to a video display screen. The video processor module may receive radar data sensed by a radar sensor of the vehicle, and may, responsive at least in part to processing of image data and radar data, detect at least one other vehicle present exterior of the vehicle.

Abstract: A control system for a vehicle includes a plurality of cameras, at least one radar sensor, and a control having at least one processor. Captured image data and sensed radar data are provided to the control. The control processes captured image data to detect objects present exteriorly of the vehicle and is operable to determine whether a detected edge constitutes a portion of a vehicle. The control processes sensed radar data to detect objects present exteriorly of the vehicle. The control, based at least in part on processing of (i) captured image data and/or (ii) sensed radar data, detects another vehicle and determines distance from the equipped vehicle to the detected other vehicle. The control, based at least in part on determination of distance from the equipped vehicle to the detected other vehicle, may control a steering system operable to adjust a steering direction of the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular control system suitable for use in a vehicle includes a data processor module for receiving and processing image data provided by a plurality of video sensors, which include at least five cameras, and sensor data provided by a plurality of non-video sensors, which include a radar sensor. The data processor module receives image data captured by the cameras and radar data captured by the radar sensor. The data processor module communicates with other vehicle systems via a vehicle bus of the equipped vehicle. Responsive at least in part to processing of image data and sensor data at the data processor module, other vehicles present exterior of the equipped vehicle are detected. Responsive at least in part to processing of image data and sensor data at the data processor module, a speed control system of the equipped vehicle is controlled.

Abstract: A vehicular driving assist system includes a data processor module that receives and processes image data provided by a plurality of video sensors and sensor data provided by a plurality of non-video sensors. The video sensors include at least five cameras disposed at respective locations of the vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior the vehicle. The data processor module communicates with other vehicle systems via a vehicle bus of the vehicle. Received image data and received sensor data are processed at the data processor module for at least one of (i) object tracking of objects present exterior of the vehicle, (ii) object identification of objects present exterior of the vehicle and (iii) object classification of objects present exterior of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part to processing of image data and sensor data at the data processor module, a driving assistance system of the vehicle is controlled.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes at least three cameras disposed at the vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior of the vehicle and operable to capture image data. Image data received at a video processor module is processed by a video processor of the video processor module. The received image data is processed by the video processor to generate a synthesized image. The synthesized image is output from the video processor module for display by a single display screen of a display device that is viewable by a driver of the equipped vehicle when normally operating the vehicle. The video processor may be operable for least one of (i) object tracking, (ii) object classification, (iii) diagnostics, (iv) camera selection, (v) camera control, (vi) on-screen display generation, (vii) data storage and (viii) data exchange.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a side-viewing camera mounted within an exterior rearview mirror assembly attached at a side of a vehicle equipped with the vehicular vision system. The side-viewing camera has a field of view at least sideward of the side of the equipped vehicle at which the exterior rearview mirror assembly is attached. The side-viewing camera captures an image of a scene occurring exterior of the equipped vehicle. The captured image includes an image data set representative of the exterior scene. A control includes an image processor, and the image data set is provided to the control. The control processes a reduced image data set of the image data set provided to the control to detect edges present exterior of the equipped vehicle within an area of interest of the scene occurring exterior of the equipped vehicle that is within the field of view of the side-viewing camera.
