摘要: A system for providing information about physical entities to users includes an information server accessible to a plurality of user-held receivers. An exemplary server has access to characteristic accessibility data for candidate physical entities. The server receives a user's request for information about physical entities of interest (which may be mobile), including the user's search domain relative to the user's location (the user may also be mobile). The search domain does not necessarily require the user to provide a network address of, or perform a keyword search for the networked data pages of, the physical entities of interest. The server determines which (if any) of said candidate physical entities satisfy the request, and reports to the user at the receiver over an electronic network.

摘要: The syringe (10) comprises a detachable syringe barrel (14) connected to a housing (12). The housing contains a drive means connected to a plunger (24). The drive means is for extending and retracting the plunger into and out of the detachable syringe barrel. The detachable syringe barrel comprises a stopper (26) at one end thereof in sealing engagement with the interior of the barrel and for releasable engagement with the end of the plunger distal to the drive means. At least a portion of the stopper is flexible between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the flexible stopper may be disengaged from the plunger upon retraction of the plunger away from the detachable syringe barrel. In the second position, the flexible stopper is maybe engaged with the plunger upon extension of the plunger toward the detachable syringe barrel.

摘要: A carpet cleaning machine for uniformly spreading a dry carpet cleaning powder onto a surface and working the dry carpet cleaning powder into the surface. The cleaning machine includes base having a hopper integrally formed therein, distribution slots on the bottom of the hopper, a rotary powder agitator inside the hopper, wheels for supporting the base over a floor surface and for rotating the powder agitator, a metering gate for controlling the dispensing of the dry carpet cleaning powder, a trigger located on the cleaner handle for controlling the metering gate, and a plurality of motor driven vertical axis rotary brushes for working the dry carpet cleaning powder into the carpet. The dry carpet cleaning powder is dispensed onto the carpet and allowed to sit for a short period of time to allow the dry carpet cleaning powder to absorb the dirt contained in the carpet. After the dry carpet cleaning powder has dried and absorbed dirt, the dry carpet cleaning powder and dirt are vacuumed from the carpet with an ordinary vacuum.

摘要: A scanning device and method for forming a scanned electronic image include using navigation information that is acquired along with image data, and then rectifying the image data based upon the navigation and image information. The navigation information is obtained in frames. The differences between consecutive frames are detected and accumulated, and this accumulated displacement value is representative of a position of the scanning device relative to a reference. The image data is then positioned-tagged using the position data obtained from the accumulated displacement value. To avoid the accumulation of errors, the accumulated displacement value obtained from consecutive frames is updated by comparing a current frame with a much earlier frame stored in memory and using the resulting difference as the displacement from the earlier frame. These larger displacement steps are then accumulated to determine the relative position of the scanning device.

摘要: An aqueous-based, shear-thinning, erasable ink and a roller-ball pen containing same. In a preferred embodiment, the ink comprises a blend of three different non-carboxylated, styrene-butadiene aqueous emulsions, a water-insoluble or water-dispersible pigment and a shear-thinning, viscosity-adjustment agent in the form of a silicate clay. The ink further comprises an antioxidant preparation, which includes tocopherol and vitamin C, for use in extending the time period over which the ink remains erasable after being applied to a substrate, a shear-stabilizing agent in the form of potassium oleate for use in preventing unwanted coagulation of the styrene-butadiene copolymer due to shear, a pH-adjusting agent in the form of triethanolamine for shifting the pH of the ink to a pH of about 9-10, and an anti-drying agent in the form of a 3:1 mixture of sorbitol to glycerine. The pen comprises a barrel for storing a quantity of the ink, the barrel being made of polypropylene and having an open top end; a hollow tip made of a stainless steel, a nickel-silver alloy or a polyoxymethylene and having a top end and a bottom end, the top end being shaped to define a ball socket; a ball rotatably received in the ball socket and made of a sintered ceramic material; and an elongated hollow connector made of a polyoxymethylene and having an open top end adapted to receive the bottom end of the hollow tip and an open bottom end adapted to be received in the open top end of the barrel. The ball has a diameter of about 1.0 mm or greater. The socket has a maximum internal width that exceeds the diameter of the ball by approximately 0.015-0.025 mm and is shaped to enable the ball to move axially therewithin a distance of approximately 0.03-0.07 mm.

摘要: A communications distribution interface unit assembly is mountable to an appropriate frame behind an opening in a wall panel, for instance. A unitary cover is adapted for mounting to the frame and includes a front face, a rear face, and a perimeter wall alignable with the opening in the wall panel. The cover includes integral structural support ribs rigidifying the cover in a direction generally perpendicular to the wall panel. At least one communications module is mountable to the rear of the cover. The module includes at least one connector exposed at the rear of the assembly for easy access thereto. The entire communications module assembly can be preassembled and, thereafter, mounted to the frame behind the opening in the wall panel.

摘要: The present disclosure provides methods for incorporating at least one non-natural amino acid into a polypeptide using a cell-free protein synthesis which includes a cell-free extract and is deficient in endogenous tRNA. The methods include providing the synthesis system with at least one non-natural amino acid, at least one orthogonal tRNA and one orthogonal aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase which aminoacylates the corresponding orthogonal tRNA with the non-natural amino acid. The methods may also include removing the endogenous tRNA in the cell-free protein synthesis system by treating the synthesis system with a ribonuclease to degrade the endogenous tRNA and providing the synthesis system with a minimal set of tRNAs for one or more natural amino acids and the corresponding amino-acyl tRNA synthetases, such that the lack of some tRNA will enable unique codons to encode for non-natural amino acid incorporation with no or a minimal amount of completion from the tRNA present.
