摘要: A compressor mounted on a vehicle is disclosed. The compressor includes an apparatus for transmitting rotational power from an engine to drive shaft of the compressor via a pulley. The apparatus has a spring coupled to one of the pulley and the drive shaft. A deformable ring is coupled to the other one of the pulley and the drive shaft. The deformable ring is deformed by heat. The spring and the deformable ring are being held in abutment against each other by the force of the spring so as to transmit the rotational power to each other. A contact ring is interposed between the spring and the deformable ring. The contact ring has a rigidity larger than that of the deformable ring. The spring and the contact ring frictionally contact one another to generate the heat that deform the deformable ring when load generated in the drive shaft is in excess of a predetermined value.

摘要: A torque limiting device for a compressor. An input shaft of the compressor is connected to the torque limiting device so that the power source driving the compressor will not be affected if abnormal conditions cause the compressor to generate an excessive load. A flexible connector is located between the power source and the compressor. The flexible connector is deformed when torque is applied to the compressor input shaft. When the applied torque exceeds a predetermined value, a spring is permitted to expand axially, which uncouples the compressor from the power source. The torque at which the device uncouples is stable and predictable.

摘要: A heating apparatus for a vehicle with a simplified piping structure in a fluid pressure operating system, to a heat exchanger while preventing a pulsation of the operating fluid in the system from being directly transmitted to a cabin, thereby suppressing an occurrence of a noise in the cabin. A fluid pressure operating system includes an oil pump 12 rotated by an engine 21 and an actuator 20 operated by the operating fluid issued from the oil pump 12. A heat exchanger 39 is arranged between an outlet of the oil pump 12 and the actuator 20. Heat generated at the oil pump 12 in the fluid pressure operating system 11 is passed to the engine cooling water at the heat emitter and is used for heating the cabin.

摘要: A viscous fluid type heat generator including a housing assembly in which a fluid-tight heat generating chamber confining therein a viscous fluid to which a shearing action is applied by a disc-like rotor element rotated by a drive shaft, and having inner wall surfaces confronting outer surfaces of the rotor element, the inner wall surfaces of the fluid-tight heat generating chamber and the outer faces of the rotor element defining a gap in which the viscous fluid is held, the rotor element being provided with one or more through-holes formed in an outer peripheral portion and a radially inner portion thereof with respect to the axis of rotation of the rotor element so that the through-holes cooperate with one or more non-circumferentially extending elongate indentations provided in the inner wall surfaces of the fluid-tight heat generating chamber during the rotation of the rotor element to expand a heat generating region formed by the gap. The expansion of the heat generating region formed by the gap increases a restraint acting against movement of the viscous fluid caused by the rotation of the rotor element so as to increase friction and a shearing force acting on the viscous fluid, and heat generation by the viscous fluid is increased.

摘要: A heating system for a vehicle is provided which does not require a large boarding space in an engine room very much, which can be manufactured at a reduced cost, and which can fully heat a passenger compartment of a vehicle when an engine is started. For instance, in the vehicle heating system, a water pump (WP) and a viscous heater (VH) is incorporated into an installation housing (1), a plate (2) and a cover (3) which are bonded to a cylinder block of an engine. The water pump (WP) and the viscous heater (VH) are driven by a drive shaft (11) which is shared by them. Moreover, the viscous heater (VH) includes an auxiliary water jacket (WJ.sub.2). The auxiliary water jacket (WJ.sub.2) is communicated with a main water jacket (WJ.sub.1) of the engine by way of a pump chamber (4) of the water pump (WP), and is further communicated with a heater core for heating a passenger compartment of a vehicle.

摘要: A viscous fluid type heat generating apparatus having a housing forming a cylindrical heat-generating chamber having a cylindrical wall surface and an axially spaced flat annular wall surface, and a rotatably supported rotor element having a cylindrical base portion and an axially extending tubular portion integral with the base portion forming a substantially cylindrical outer face and a cavity portion used as a fluid-storing chamber, the cylindrical portion of the rotor element cooperating with the cylindrical wall surface of the housing to define a main part of a heat-generating gap holding a viscous fluid which generates heat in response to an application of a shearing force to the viscous fluid in response to the rotation of the rotor element. The heat generating apparatus further having an intercommunicating passage providing a fluid communication between the heat-generating gap and the fluid storing chamber to thereby cause a circulation of the viscous fluid during the rotation of the rotor element, and a flow rate controlling actuator controlling an amount of circulation of the viscous fluid in response to a change in the rotating speed of the rotor element.

摘要: A heat generating apparatus having a housing assembly in which a working chamber including a heat generating region for heat generation and a fluid storing region for storing a viscous fluid, and a heat receiving chamber for receiving heat from the heat generating region are formed. The heat generating apparatus also having a rotor element mounted on a drive shaft to be rotated within the working chamber to apply a shearing action to the viscous fluid within the heat generating region. The viscous fluid generates heat when the shearing action is applied thereto so that the heat is transmitted to a heat exchanging liquid flowing through the heat receiving chamber. The heat generating region and fluid storing region communicating through an aperture formed in a partition wall formed in the working chamber, and the aperture having a gas-phase portion, a liquid-phase portion and a liquid supply portion.

摘要: A variable capacity type viscous heater is provided in which the capacity reduction is carried out securely, and which can inhibit a viscous fluid from deteriorating the endurable heat generation even after a long period of service. For instance, it includes a heat-generating chamber, a collector passage, a supply passage, and a control chamber, which are formed therein. The collector passage is communicated with a central region of the heat-generating chamber, and is capable of opening and closing. The supply passage is communicated with a lower region of the heat-generating chamber. The control chamber is communicated with the collector passage and the supply passage. A silicone oil, held in the heat-generating chamber, is collected into the control chamber by the Weissenberg effect by way of the opened collector passage, thereby carrying out the capacity reduction. Whilst, the silicone oil, held in the control chamber, is supplied into the heat-generating chamber by way of the supply passage, thereby carrying out the capacity enlargement.
