A load balancing system includes a transformer having a plurality of integrated sensors. A control system that may be embedded within the transformer is in electrical communication with the plurality of sensors. The control system is configured to estimate or determine the state of health of the transformer. The state of health of the transformer is based upon signals generated via the plurality of sensors. A load request that may be received that is compared to the state of health of the transformer to determine if the transformer can support the load request. The control system determines whether or not the transformer can provide electrical power based upon the estimated state of health of the transformer and in response to the load request.

The signal generator is configured to inject testing signals into the testing channel at a second frequency that is greater than the first frequency. The system further includes at least one apparatus magnetically coupled to the power transmission channel. The magnetically coupled apparatus is configured to present a first impedance to the electric power at the first frequency and present a second impedance to the test signals at the second frequency. The second impedance is greater than the first impedance.

The plurality of reconfigurable fault condition mechanisms are disposed solely within the stator core portion according to one embodiment to automatically reduce stator winding fault currents and internal heat associated with the PM machine during a fault condition. A method of reconfiguring the fault condition mechanisms upon detecting a fault condition includes the steps of 1) selecting the plurality of reconfigurable fault condition mechanisms from a) a plurality of rotatable magnetically anisotropic cylinders disposed both within a stator back iron and stator slot openings, and b) a plurality of rotatable magnetically anisotropic cylinders disposed within a stator back iron and a sliding shield disposed with a stator slot opening portion of the stator core, and 2) reconfiguring the plurality of fault condition mechanisms together to automatically reduce fault currents associated with the PM machine upon detection of a fault condition.

A power generator that operates at a reduced temperature level includes a flux shunt that reduces the amount of fringing magnetic flux axially impinging upon a stator, flange, and multiple keybars during operation of the generator. By reducing the amount of axially impinging flux, the flux shunt reduces an operating temperature of the stator and flange and reduces a voltage differential between keybar voltages induced by the flux in the multiple keybars.
