Systems and methods of the present invention allow for incorporation of relevant messages, such as commercial advertisements, in outgoing faxes and/or for presentation of relevant messages with outgoing faxes. Text may be extracted from a current and/or previously sent or received facsimile and relevant messages may be added in the facsimile. A sample embodiment of the system comprises an Obtaining Means, an Extracting Means, an Analyzing Means, a Storing Means, a Selecting Means, an Incorporating Means, a Converting Means, and a Transmitting Means. An alternative sample embodiment comprises an Obtaining Means, an Extracting Means, an Incorporating Means, and a Transmitting Means. The systems may be maintained by a Fax Server Provider. A sample embodiment of the method comprises the steps of obtaining a facsimile from a Sender, extracting text from the facsimile, incorporating one or more relevant messages in the facsimile, and transmitting the facsimile to a Recipient.

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for enforcing policy controls for non-system managed tape media. The apparatus includes an operating system configured to communicate with a tape media drive, and an identification module configured to identify a tape media type of a tape media cartridge. The apparatus may also include a policy module configured to maintain control policies for tape media types, and a media control module configured to enforce the control policies. The system includes a computing system having a processor, a cache, an operating system, and a plurality of input/output interfaces, a tape media drive coupled to the computing system, and the apparatus. The method includes communicating with a tape media drive, identifying a tape media type of a tape media cartridge, maintaining a plurality of control policies for tape media types, and enforcing the plurality of control policies.

A system and method for performing a search operation within a sequential access data storage subsystem are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a data storage subsystem is provided which comprises a search module and a communication channel interface to communicatively couple the data storage subsystem to a host data processing system via a communication channel. In the described embodiment, the search module is configured to receive search attribute data from the host data processing system via the communication channel interface, where the search attribute data specifies a search attribute. The search module is further configured to perform a search operation on data of a sequential access storage element utilizing the search attribute and to provide search result data to the host data processing system via the communication channel interface in response to a performance of the search operation.

If color/gray elements are identified in the document, the distance between them and their intensity is determined. If there are elements with the same or similar intensity in close proximity to each other, colors of some of the elements may be replaced with solid monochrome colors, and/or dithered surfaces, and/or monochrome patterns. Further, the elements may be outlined. These improvements make elements in the document more distinguishable after its conversion to a monochrome format. The described color optimization and outlining may have wide applicability in the Internet Fax technology.

An apparatus, system, and method are presented for utilizing tape storage media segmentation to improve data access performance. A segmented tape storage medium within a tape cartridge having a first and second segment is utilized. A selection module allows a user to select a user-defined capacity of the tape storage medium that is less than the usable capacity of the tape storage medium. The user-defined capacity allows the user to prefer improved data access over tape storage capacity. Data, when written to the tape, is written only within the user-defined capacity. Data may be written exclusively on the first segment or written on both the first segment and second segment allowing data access to be improved. In addition, the user-defined capacity may correspond to the full capacity of the tape storage media.

A method and system of testing an electronic device can be performed by estimating the die temperature using correlation data previously collected for other electronic devices. In one embodiment, correlation data can include (1) die temperatures measured and (2) currents drawn by the electronic devices, testing voltages for the electronic devices, or powers consumed by the electronic devices during the testing. The correlation data can be used to generate an equation or be stored in a table. A method of testing a subsequent electronic device can include testing the subsequent electronic device. The method can also include estimating a die temperature for the subsequent electronic device during testing, wherein the die temperature can be estimated at least in part using a current drawn by the subsequent electronic device, a testing voltage for the subsequent electronic device, or a power consumed by the subsequent electronic device.
