    摘要: A method for pretreating and re-refining used oil that requires only moderate heat and only one re-refining step. The pretreatment involves mixing the used oil with a basic solution and optionally a phase transfer catalyst. The phase transfer catalyst aids the chemical reaction which allows removal of impurities in used oil. The basic solution preferably includes more than one base. The used oil, basic solution and phase transfer catalyst are mixed under low heat. The pretreated oil is then mixed with liquid propane in a non-turbulent manner, such as by use of a globe valve or orbit valve. The mixture of used oil and liquid propane are then placed into an extraction vessel and impurities are allowed to settle out of the oil and propane mixture. Heavy fraction may be removed from the extraction vessel. Preferably, a second vessel called a settling vessel will be used to cause further settling of impurities out of the used oil. Light fraction is produced which may be re-refined to produce base oil. The heavy fraction may be used for asphalt production. The invented method and system removes interfering amounts of metals, additives and additive derivative products from used oil and produces useful base oil.

    摘要: A radially locked subsea housing includes a low pressure housing having upper and lower radial lock regions, each of which regions includes a radial interference surface that is between vertical to only slightly tapered in orientation. A high pressure housing also has upper and lower radial lock regions, each of which regions includes a radial interference surface that is slightly greater in radial diameter than the corresponding interference surface of the low pressure housing. The interference surfaces of the upper and lower radial lock regions form upper and lower interference fits, respectively, between the high pressure and low pressure housings when the housings are assembled subsea. The low pressure housing further includes a landing shoulder defining a landing surface that is substantially more tapered in orientation than are the interference surfaces of the upper and lower radial lock regions, and the high pressure housing includes a landing shoulder defining a landing surface formed to land on the landing surface of the low pressure housing when the housings are assembled subsea. In an alternative embodiment, a zero-clearance, axially extended fit is employed at one or both of the radial lock regions.

    摘要: A constant motion swivel seal assembly having greatly improved useful life without leakage of fluid from a swivel joint. The seal assembly includes one or more annular sealing rings rotatably positioned between an outer joint member and an inner joint member. A wedge-shaped anti-extrusion ring mounted between the annular sealing ring and a gap between the inner and outer joint members prevents the sealing ring from extrusion into the gap. The anti-extrusion ring has a relatively large surface area in contact with the inner joint member and a relatively small surface area in contact with the outer joint member so the anti-extrusion ring remains in substantially the same position relative to the inner joint member. The relatively small area of contact between the outer joint member and the anti-extrusion ring allows the anti-extrusion ring to slide over the surface of the outer joint member as the outer joint member rotates relative to the inner joint member. Hoop stress also prevents fluid pressure from forcing the anti-extrusion ring radially outward against the outer joint member while fluid pressure axially presses the anti-extrusion ring tightly against an end portion of the inner joint member. A relatively small area of contact between the sealing ring and the inner member and a larger area of contact between the sealing ring and the outer member allows the sealing ring to slide over the inner member and rotate with the outer member.
