摘要: In a process for preparing alcohols comprising the hydrogenation of aldehydes in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst in the gas phase, the improvement comprising adding nitrogen-containing bases to the aldehyde to be hydrogenated, whereby the formation of by-products is largely suppressed and isolation of the desired alcohols in high selectivity and correspondingly high yield is made possible.

摘要: Wastewater from the aldolization reaction is purified by adjusting its pH to 0 to 6, followed by extraction with monohydric alcohols having at least 8 carbon atoms, hydrocarbons having at least 6 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof. In some cases, adjustment of the pH causes the formation of an organic phase, which is separated from the remaining wastewater before extraction.

The invention also relates to the reuse of rhodium as a catalyst for hydroformulation and to a catalyst for hydroformulation itself. The inventive method is characterized by the following: extraction of the organic solution with an aqueous phosphate solution or a phosphate solution, water washing, oxidative treatment of the organic phase, and extraction of the organic phase with an aqueous water-soluble arylphosphine solution.

摘要: A process for the preparation of alcohols by reaction of organic carbonyl compounds with hydrogen in two stages at elevated temperature and, optionally, elevated pressure. In the first stage, hydrogen and the carbonyl compounds are fed as a gas to a copper-containing catalyst and reacted to 80 to 99.5 percent of the theoretical conversion. In the second stage, the reaction product of the first stage is fed to a nickel/alumina/zirconium dioxide catalyst as a liquid, along with hydrogen. The carbonyl compounds used include aldehydes and their derivatives and, in particular, aliphatic unsaturated and saturated aldehydes.

摘要: A process for the production of 2-ethyl-hexanol comprising reacting propene with carbon monoxide and hydrogen, in the presence of an aqueous catalyst containing rhodium and at least one sulfonated triarylphosphine, to form an aqueous phase and an organic phase, said organic phase comprising a mixture of materials having boiling points lower than that of n-butanal and substances having boiling points equal to or higher than that of n-butanal, said materials including i-butanal, separating said material from said substances, subjecting said substances to aldol condensation, in the presence of aqueous alkali, to form 2-ethyl hexenal, first hydrogenating said 2-ethyl-hexenal in a gas phase in the presence of a first hydrogenation catalyst and thereafter hydrogenating said 2-ethyl-hexenal in a liquid phase to form 2-ethyl-hexanol in the presence of a second hydrogenation catalyst.

摘要: A process for cleaning up the wastewaters which originate from the preparation of alcohols. The alcohol preparation includes an aldolization reaction followed by hydrogenation and then alcohol distillation. The resulting wastewaters include 3 wastewater fractions from respective steps in the alcohol preparation. The process for cleaning up these wastewaters include the steps of (a) combining two of the three fractions and adjusting the pH of the combination, (b) bringing at least one of the fractions into contact with a coalescing filter, and (c) extracting a mixture of all three fractions.
